About The Position

The Kings County District Attorney's Office is seeking a Process Server to serve legal documents such as subpoenas, complaints, and summons. This role involves working independently under general supervision, exercising judgment and initiative, and performing a full range of duties related to the service of legal documents. The position requires interaction with various parties and may involve testifying in court regarding the service of documents.

Requirements

  • Equivalent to completion of the twelfth (12th) grade.
  • Six (6) months of experience serving legal documents, process serving, or skip-tracing.
  • Possession of a valid California driver's license.

Responsibilities

  • Serve legal documents including subpoenas, complaints, motions, and summons to individuals and agencies.
  • Determine locations of individuals to be served through interviews and research.
  • Testify in court regarding the service of subpoenas and measures taken to locate witnesses.
  • Transport departmental materials and documents, and may transport witnesses to court.
  • Create, organize, archive, and maintain records and documents, ensuring compliance with laws and retention schedules.
  • Prepare and process various documents, ensuring accuracy and compliance with department policies.
  • Provide training and information to new employees regarding work tasks.
  • Comply with County safety rules and regulations.
  • Communicate professionally and respectfully with County staff and the public.
  • Attend meetings and training sessions to stay updated on relevant programs and regulations.

Benefits

  • Salary range of $36,337.60 - $44,345.60 annually.
