About The Position

The Process Safety Management Advisor is responsible for developing, implementing, and maintaining the Process Safety Management program in compliance with OSHA 29 CFR 1910.119 and other applicable regulations. This role ensures the safe design, operation, and maintenance of processes involving hazardous chemicals, and fosters a culture of safety and continuous improvement across the organization.

Requirements

  • Bachelor’s degree in Chemical Engineering, Mechanical Engineering, Environmental Science, or a related field.
  • 5+ years of experience in a process safety leadership role
  • In-depth knowledge of OSHA PSM standards and EPA RMP regulations.
  • Professional certifications such as Certified Security Professional (CSP) or is preferred.
  • Strong analytical, organizational, and project management skills.
  • Strong people and communication skills and has demonstrated success in effectively working across functions.
  • Strategic thinker with proven track record in quickly gaining credibility and partnering collaboratively with leaders across the organization.

Responsibilities

  • Lead the development and execution of the PSM program, ensuring compliance with federal, state, and local regulations.
  • Develop recommendations for leadership on the current state of the PSM program and future improvements, if needed.
  • Conduct and facilitate Process Hazard Analyses (PHAs), including HAZOPs, What-If, and FMEA studies.
  • Maintain and update PSM documentation, including process safety information (PSI), operating procedures, and mechanical integrity records.
  • Coordinate Management of Change (MOC) processes to ensure safe implementation of process modifications.
  • Oversee incident investigation processes, root cause analysis, and corrective action implementation.
  • Collaborate with engineering, operations, and maintenance teams to ensure safe process design and operation.
  • Develop and deliver PSM training programs for employees and contractors.
  • Monitor and audit PSM program performance, identify gaps, and drive continuous improvement initiatives.
  • Serve as the primary liaison with regulatory agencies during inspections and audits.
