Sedron Technologies
125d$130,000 - $165,000

About The Position

Sedron Technologies is hiring a talented Process Safety Engineer! Founded in 2014 and headquartered in the Pacific Northwest, Sedron Technologies designs, manufactures, installs, and operates advanced water and waste upcycling technologies. With a focus on transforming the paradigm from waste processing to resource recovery, Sedron Technologies works with municipal, agricultural, and industrial customers to process their 'waste' into climate-smart commodities through environmentally and financially sustainable methods. We are seeking a Process Safety Engineer to lead the development, implementation, and execution of Sedron’s process safety practices. This is a hands-on, execution-driven role responsible for owning and advancing process safety across our operations. The ideal candidate will serve as the central point person for all process safety activities, working closely with plant operations and engineering teams to lead LOPA, PHA, and HAZOPS reviews, and to drive timely and practical follow-up actions. In addition to executing day-to-day safety responsibilities, this role will play a key part in elevating Sedron’s overall process safety maturity and embedding it into every stage of how we design, operate, and evolve our systems.

  • Bachelor’s or higher degree in Chemical, Mechanical, or Process Engineering or related field.
  • Proven experience leading HAZOPs or similar hazard assessments.

  • Strong written and verbal communication skills; comfortable working across technical and non-technical stakeholders.
  • Minimum requirement for all positions is a high school diploma or GED.
  • Must have effective verbal, reading, and written communication skills in the English language.

  • Oversee the identification, classification, and integrity management of safety systems and other safety critical equipment.
  • Participate in and lead incident investigations (near misses, incidents, accidents) using root cause analysis methodologies (e.g., Bowtie, 5 Whys, Fishbone diagrams) to identify underlying causes and develop effective corrective actions.
  • Review and approve Memorandums of Change (MOCs) for process, equipment, and procedural changes to ensure potential safety impacts are identified, assessed, and mitigated before implementation.
  • Conduct and participate in Pre-Startup Safety Reviews to ensure new or modified facilities and equipment are safe to operate prior to the introduction of hazardous materials.
  • Stay current with and ensure compliance with relevant local, state, and federal regulations (e.g., OSHA PSM, EPA RMP, NFPA, API standards) and industry best practices.
  • Conduct and participate in process safety audits and self-assessments to evaluate the effectiveness of PSM programs and identify areas for improvement.
  • Collaborate with HSE to develop, review, and update process safety procedures, standards, and training; deliver safety training to operations, maintenance, and engineering teams; mentor junior engineers and promote a strong, proactive safety culture.
  • Support the development and review of emergency response plans related to process safety incidents.
  • Monitor and report on process safety performance metrics and KPIs.
  • Communicate and collaborate effectively across multidisciplinary teams of technicians, engineers, and operators.
  • Demonstrate initiative and problem-solving drive, bringing energy and excitement to technically challenging work.
