Requirements

  • High school diploma or general education degree (GED); or one to three months related experience and/or training; or equivalent combination of education and experience.
  • Ability to read and comprehend simple instructions, short correspondence, and memos in English.
  • Ability to write accurate information on simple forms in English.
  • Ability to effectively present or listen to information in one-on-one and small group situations.
  • Ability to add, subtract, multiply, and divide in all units of measure.
  • Ability to compute rate, ratio, and percent and to draw and interpret bar graphs.
  • Ability to solve practical problems and deal with a variety of concrete variables.
  • Ability to interpret a variety of instructions furnished in written, oral, diagram, or schedule form.
  • Must be able to operate all equipment and tools used in the lab.
  • Must have knowledge of and follow plant safety, personal hygiene, and GMP rules.
  • Must be able to complete forms in an accurate and legible manner.
  • Must have the ability to stand for extended periods of time.
  • Must be able to lift to 40 pounds in a safe manner.
  • Must be able to work with or around lab chemicals and industrial cleaning chemicals used in the plant.
  • Must be able to demonstrate proper use of a telephone.

Responsibilities

  • Maintains safe work practices at all times and participates in safety programs.
  • Performs a set of functions established for each of several work stations on a routine basis.
  • Collects data and records accurately on Q.A. forms and reports any irregularities of product exceeding established limits.
  • Uses approved procedures to sample and evaluate product for various attributes such as length, defects, color, texture, solids, packaging waste, case weights, case integrity, product temperatures, and additive levels.
  • Selects products for tests at specified stages in production process and tests products for a variety of qualities.
  • Records test data, applying statistical quality control procedures.
  • Evaluates data to validate or indicate deviations from existing standards.
  • Recommends modifications of existing quality or production standards to achieve optimum quality.
  • Prepares graphs or charts of data or enters data into computer for analysis.
  • Performs other duties as assigned.
