This position is responsible for operating and monitoring the Corpus Christi, TX Splitter processing unit to ensure equipment is operating safely and efficiently and maintaining product quality. This role will work independently and with others to perform tasks as required for safe operations and to meet regulatory compliance. Incumbents are responsible for maintaining production, utility operations, and product quality in a safe and efficient manner. Maintain documentation and records required for regulatory requirements and Company safety and operational standards and procedures. Rotating shifts.

  • Monitors and moves and sets controls to control process variables, such as flows, temperatures, and pressures to operate heaters, furnaces, compressors, exchangers, towers, etc.
  • Regulate pumps and compressors; take instrument readings; product sampling; make equipment adjustments to optimize performance.
  • Daily visual rounds and inspections of processing unit, supporting equipment, tanks, etc.
  • Prep equipment for scheduled maintenance; instrument and equipment troubleshooting.
  • Monitor all product movements in to and out of the processing unit; gauges products transferred to and from tanks.
  • Performs valve lineups, switch and tank changes as required to move product in and out of storage tanks.
  • Input product and/or other data into system applications as required.
  • Assist technicians with maintenance duties as directed; maintain location appearance.
  • Assist drivers and others, perform truck rack, and vessel operations duties as assigned.
  • Serves as a team member of the plant Turnaround team responsible for prepping for processing unit shutdown and startup.
  • Responsible for completing and maintaining required documentation and records per regulatory requirements (e.g. OSHA, PSM, etc) and Company safety and operational standards and procedures.
  • Maintain a working knowledge of PSM (Process Safety Management) and company policies/procedures as they relate to the operation/maintenance of the assigned asset.
  • Executes operations safely and follows all safety requirements.
  • Participates on the facility emergency response team, and attends and actively participates in required safety training meetings.
  • Responsible for other projects and/or assignments as assigned by the Supervisor.
  • High school diploma or GED required.
  • 2 years experience in the refinery processing industry, preferably refinery or chemical process operator experience, or equivalent experience from another field/industry preferred.
  • Knowledge of compressor station, storage field, gathering field, and/or processing plant operations.
  • Knowledge of computers and demonstrated ability to access and/or perform basic computer functions utilizing company software applications.
  • Knowledge of gas and liquid processing fundamentals.
  • Knowledge of applicable company and governmental operating practices and procedures.
  • Knowledge of safe handling of flammable gases, liquids, and high-pressure systems.
  • Ability to analyze, adjust, and perform minor repairs on equipment.
  • Ability to apply addition, subtraction, multiplication, and division.
  • Ability to read/understand drawings, diagrams, work logs, dials, gauges, charts, procedures, and operational and repair manuals.
  • Ability to maintain and prepare information such as safety/environmental reports, work logs, maintenance/repair logs, and time sheets.
