About you and this role Dow has an exciting opportunity for a Process Operator in Seadrift, Texas. The purpose of this job is to operate assigned equipment or areas of the plant and perform operations related activities per the work process, utilize process knowledge and experience to operate and troubleshoot the plant in a safe and efficient manner, work in a team environment where individuals often set priorities and complete work activities. This is a 24-hour operation and will require the ability to work 12-hour shifts during the day and at night on a rotating basis.

Requirements

  • High School diploma or equivalent AND one of the following is required
  • Associates degree or higher in Process Technology (or related degree).
  • 3 or more years of relevant military experience in lieu of a degree
  • 3 or more years of relevant experience in a Chemical, Oil and Gas, or Manufacturing environment
  • Able to work 12-hour rotating shifts, overtime, holidays, nights and weekends as required
  • Have a current, valid US driver's license
  • A minimum requirement for this U.S. based position is the ability to work legally in the United States. No visa sponsorship/support is available for this position, including for any type of U.S. permanent residency (green card) process.
  • Manufacturing Processes - Ability to follow a sequence of steps, involving multiple unit operations, that transform one or more materials into new substances with different properties
  • Risk Awareness - Ability to recognize and understand potential risks. Identify, assess or manage risk to minimize negative outcomes and enhance safety and efficiency
  • Mechanical Aptitude - Strong understanding of mechanical principles with the ability to trouble shoot and solve mechanical and operational problems efficiently
  • Hazard Mitigation - Ability to identify manufacturing hazards and the safeguards to apply to prevent injuries and releases
  • Lift, push, and pull
  • Frequent bending, reaching, and lifting
  • Ability to lift up to 50 lbs. of weight
  • Stand and walk for extended periods of time
  • Work at heights, climb stairs and ladders
  • Work in tight and closed in spaces
  • Must be able to wear and use personal protective equipment (PPE), including but not limited to respirator and harnesses with a total weight capacity of 300lbs.
  • Work in an area of intense or continuous noise
  • Work in an area with hazardous materials
  • Handle material from drums and bags
  • This role does involve elevated work greater than or equal to four feet above the ground

Responsibilities

  • Follow Operating Discipline principles, procedures and practices to ensure safe and efficient operation of assigned plant areas
  • Operate and field check process equipment
  • Monitor process conditions, equipment and control systems
  • Perform tasks assigned to operations as per a standard task list including field checks, equipment preparation, samples, etc
  • Ensure operational activities and process performance are aligned with plant and business goals
  • Use troubleshooting skills to resolve process related deviations and problems and maintain equipment reliability
  • Initiate and participate in Root Cause Investigations as required
  • Coach and train others on plant operations
  • Perform immediate response activities and manage unplanned events
  • Use process knowledge and skills to make improvements in plant performance and Operating Discipline
  • Use measurements and tools to operate the Plant at optimum conditions
  • Perform process equipment troubleshooting, minor repairs, improvements and preventative maintenance, utilizing appropriate processes and disciplines
  • Manage multiple and complex plant computer control systems
  • Perform all duties with a high degree of dedication to safety and environmental stewardship
  • Operator a forklift/fork truck
  • Utilize Microsoft Office and other digital tools and processes to complete daily work
