About The Position

The Process Operator oversees the daily operation of an assigned area of the production process within the Bluffton Ethanol Plant. This role involves working a 12-hour rotating shift schedule while maintaining a safe work environment. The operator monitors and maintains production quality and equipment, supporting the policies, goals, and objectives of the company. Responsibilities include monitoring and controlling plant operations, reviewing the operation of the plant to ensure production and quality, participating in projects to improve efficiency, documenting process variables, and communicating with all departments to ensure safe and efficient execution of daily activities. The operator also participates in safety, health, and environmental programs and performs other duties as assigned to maintain a safe, reliable, and consistent operation.

Requirements

  • High school diploma or GED required.
  • Associate Degree in Process Technology or equivalent preferred.
  • Experience in the operation of a dry-mill ethanol plant preferred.
  • Able and willing to work on-site, in-person at the Valero Bluffton Ethanol Plant.

Responsibilities

  • Oversees the daily operation of an assigned area of the production process.
  • Monitors and controls plant operations.
  • Reviews the operation of the plant to monitor production and quality.
  • Anticipates and solves problems in a timely manner.
  • Identifies opportunities for improvement.
  • Participates in projects that improve efficiency and/or reduce operating costs.
  • Documents and monitors process variables, sample data, and routine tasks.
  • Participates in Quality Assurance/Quality Control program.
  • Communicates with all departments within the facility.
  • Monitors and troubleshoots process issues and equipment.
  • Performs scheduled Operations Work Requests.
  • Prepares equipment for maintenance/contractors.
  • Utilizes company safe work practices.
  • Participates in safety, health, and environmental programs.
  • Monitors use and inventories of process chemicals and supplies.
  • Performs other duties as assigned.
