About The Position

Process Mechanic-Seamstress Company: Boeing Defense, Space & Security (BDS) looking for a Process Mechanic – Seamstress to join the Boeing Fabrication team in Berkley, MO! Process Mechanics may also be required to perform sheet metal fabrication, spray painting, welding, chemical processing, plating, and hand/machine sewing. This position is expected to be 100% onsite. The selected candidate will be required to work onsite at one of the listed location options. Security Clearance and Export Control Requirements: This position must meet Export Control compliance requirements, therefore a “US Person” as defined by 22 C.F.R. § 120.15 is required. “US Person” includes US Citizen, lawful permanent resident, refugee, or asylee. Drug Free Workplace: Boeing is a Drug Free Workplace where post offer applicants and employees are subject to testing for marijuana, cocaine, opioids, amphetamines, PCP, and alcohol when criteria is met as outlined in our policies . Additional Information: The selected candidate must be able to work any shift, as assigned. This is an hourly position governed by the IAM Collective Bargaining agreement. New Hires, as well as employees who transfer from non-union positions, may be required to attend some type of training upon their start. Once any required training has been completed all new employees will be considered on probation for a period of one hundred twenty (120) calendar days. Continued employment is contingent upon successful completion of any required training and the probationary period. Relocation: Relocation assistance is not a negotiable benefit for this position. Requirements

  • Experience working with detailed work instructions or reading and interpreting blueprints and drawings
  • Aerospace seamstress experience

Responsibilities

  • Lay out, cut, trim and sew coverings.
  • Setup and operate equipment such as sewing machines, weaving machines and cutters.
  • Make patterns from parts and drawings and develop master sewing patterns.
  • Hand stitch, lace and tie.
  • Use hand tools such as punches, snippers, grippers, brushes, hammers and shears.
  • Use measuring instruments such as rule and tape measures.
  • Trim and sew coverings.
  • Setup and operate sewing machines and cutters.
  • Work from patterns or templates.
  • Install grommets and fasteners.
  • Hand stitch, lace and tie.
  • Use hand tools such as grippers, punches, hammers, snippers, shears and brushes.
  • Use measuring instruments such as rule and tape measure.
  • Electronic data input or retrieval as required in the performance of their assigned duties.
