About The Position

The Process Maintenance Technician is responsible for maintaining, troubleshooting, and repairing mechanical systems and rotating equipment within the process plant at Jerritt Canyon. This role plays a critical part in ensuring equipment reliability, minimizing downtime, and supporting safe and efficient plant operations. Working closely with Maintenance and Process Operations teams, this position supports both planned and unplanned maintenance activities and contributes to continuous improvement in plant performance.

Requirements

  • High school diploma or GED required; millwright certification, trade certification, welding certification or apprenticeship preferred.
  • 3-7 years of experience in mechanical maintenance within mining, processing, or heavy industrial environments.
  • Strong experience with rotating equipment, including pumps, motors, gearboxes, and conveyors.
  • Demonstrated experience in precision alignment, equipment installation, and mechanical troubleshooting.
  • Experience supporting plant shutdowns and major equipment rebuilds.
  • Ability to read and interpret mechanical drawings, schematics, and technical manuals.
  • Strong understanding of safe work practices, including lockout/tagout and hazard recognition.
  • Ability to work independently and as part of a team in a dynamic operational environment.
  • Strong problem-solving skills and attention to detail.
  • Demonstrated commitment to safety, reliability, and continuous improvement.

Responsibilities

  • Perform preventative and corrective maintenance on process plant mechanical systems, including pumps, conveyors, crushers, mills, gearboxes, and piping systems.
  • Troubleshoot and repair rotating equipment, identifying root causes of failures and implementing effective solutions.
  • Perform equipment installation, alignment, and precision maintenance activities, including shaft alignment and bearing replacement.
  • Support major shutdowns and rebuilds, including disassembly, inspection, repair, and reassembly of plant equipment.
  • Conduct routine inspections to identify wear, misalignment, vibration, or potential equipment failures.
  • Execute maintenance work orders and accurately document work completed within maintenance systems (e.g., SAP).
  • Collaborate with Process Operations to diagnose performance issues and improve equipment reliability.
  • Maintain proper tolerances and specifications during equipment installation and repair.
  • Ensure all work is completed in compliance with safety standards, procedures, and regulatory requirements.
  • Maintain tools, equipment, and work areas in a safe and organized condition.
  • Identify and support continuous improvement opportunities related to equipment reliability and maintenance practices.
  • Assist with parts identification, materials coordination, and inventory support as needed.
