Requirements

  • Proficient in design of experiments (DOE) and statistical analysis.
  • Proficient in six sigma (DMAIC) concepts, statistical process control (SPC), failure mode and effects analysis (FMEA), and structured problem solving methodologies (8D).
  • Hands on experience with ramping technology from lab-scale to high volume manufacturing.
  • Experience initiating work and engaging Environmental Health and Safety teams to evaluate and review materials, procedures, and laboratory environments to ensure safe operations at all times.
  • Excellent oral and written communication skills; able to convey complex information effectively to diverse audiences.
  • Strong interpersonal and collaboration skills; able to drive strategic partnerships and work cohesively with cross-functional teams to achieve common goals.
  • Ability to think deeply and critically in order to solve problems and develop strategies within a cross-functional team.
  • Can effectively manage multiple responsibilities, is self-motivated and can work autonomously with minimal guidance; comfortable with ambiguity and eager to create structure; able to lead projects with diverse scope.
  • Degree in Chemical Engineering, Material Science, Chemistry, or equivalent with minimum of 12+ years (Bachelor's degree), 10+ years (Master's degree), or 7+ years (PhD) of industry experience in process development, product development, and/or quality control.

Responsibilities

  • Develop holistic manufacturing control plans to enable Sila to effectively scale its technology.
  • Cross-functionally collaborate with Materials Development, Process Technology, Process Safety, Analytical Development, Manufacturing, and Quality, to optimize the quality and manufacturing efficiency of Sila's products.
  • Design, develop, and implement Sila-wide procedures, standards, and work instructions to continuously improve the efficiency of Sila's approach to product and process development and validation.
  • May mentor multiple junior engineers and direct the activities of others.
