Process Integration Engineer III - Early in Career, Doctorate (Albany, NY)
About The Position
Applied Materials is a global leader in materials engineering solutions, designing, building, and servicing cutting-edge equipment for manufacturing display and semiconductor chips. As a Process Engineer, you will be instrumental in designing and optimizing manufacturing processes for these technologies. Your responsibilities will include collecting and analyzing data, performing hardware characterization, troubleshooting engineering issues, measuring film properties, and generating technical documentation. You will also engage with customers to resolve concerns and collaborate with vendors and suppliers, becoming familiar with implementing new technologies and products. This role involves experimenting, learning, and collaborating with R&D teams on state-of-the-art research and development projects within the semiconductor and display industries. The position requires solving unique and complex problems that have a broad impact on the business and participating in projects to achieve milestones and objectives supporting the IMS (Integrated Materials Solutions) business strategy.
Requirements
- Graduating with a PhD in materials science, chemical engineering, electrical engineering, physics or chemistry, or related field
- Familiar with CMOS integration, FEOL products, and key CMOS modules/processes
- Demonstrates in-depth and/or breadth of expertise in own discipline and broad knowledge of other disciplines within the function
- Aware of publicly available technical and business direction of key customers and key competitors
- Solves unique and complex problems with broad impact on the business; requires conceptual and innovative thinking to develop solutions
- Communicates complex ideas, anticipates potential objections and persuades others, often at senior levels, to adopt a different point of view

Responsibilities
- Contributor for IMS FEOL projects for Advanced CMOS Logic Design, collect data, analyze and compile reports on significantly complex process engineering experiments for a range of products, within safety guidelines
- Develop, plan and execute process engineering projects for a range of products
- Design and implement new technology, products and analytical instrumentation
- Generate internal and external documentation for presentations, technical reports for integrated products and generate process engineering specifications for integrated products
- Develop and execute complex technology and engineering projects and lead research and development of new technologies as appropriate
- Develop innovative solutions as part of proven track record of significant technology contributions
- Conceive and implement new technology, normally named as primary inventor on critical patents and recognized through awards and/or published papers
