The process integration group is looking for a motivated process engineer who is committed to the qualification and consistency of multi-stack thin films into a functional device. This role is in a pilot lab and requires a mix of hands-on and quantitative analyses. You will be responsible for developing and maturing process workflows, establishing critical to quality metrics, and utilizing statistical process control on our journey to release this technology in an Apple product.

Requirements

  • BS and a minimum of 3 years relevant industry experience in Thin Film Display, Solar, Optical Coatings, Semiconductor, or equivalent technology.
  • Experience in thin-films development or process integration such as in assembly, stacking, automation, or packaging.

Nice To Haves

  • MS with 5+ years of proven experience in Semiconductor, Thin Film Display, Solar, Optical Coating industries or an equivalent technology.
  • Demonstrated competency in applying quality methodologies such as 8D, Six Sigma, or PDCA to solve technical challenges.
  • Implemented solutions that enabled new capabilities, productivity, or solved a technical challenge.
  • Technical knowledge of quality assurance and automation equipment related to thin films, optics, machine vision, and stacking.
  • Lead engineering projects to scale such as in technology transfer to pilot lines or high volume manufacturing.
  • Experience with various thin film deposition techniques such as PVD, LPCVD, ALD and associated metrology and characterization methods.
  • Proficient in statistics and data analysis software such as JMP, Minitab, Python, etc.
  • Practical experience in statistical analysis and formal problem solving tools (SPC, GR&R, DOE, ANOVA, Fishbone diagrams, FMEA, RCA, FTA, etc.).
  • Experience in using equipment diagnostics tools such as calipers, laser energy meters, standards, and other various equipment technology specific to laser machining and/or automation equipment.
  • Demonstrated ability to work with vendors, subject matter experts, and cross functional teams to implement new processes and measurements.
  • Understanding and/or experience with characterization and FA techniques (FTIR, Optical Profilometry, Microscopy, SEM, TEM, XPS, XRD, Micro CT imaging).

Responsibilities

  • Define device critical to quality metrics and implement solutions that achieve repeatability and reproducibility targets.
  • Develop, implement, and monitor unit process quality control and testing procedures to meet quality standards.
  • Investigate and work with process development engineers and lab operations team to identify and resolve quality issues that arise during development.
  • Connect with multi-functional groups on schedules, metrics, and risk mitigation to facilitate process advancement.
  • Drive process readiness activities and prepare for transfer to pilot scale.
  • Establish SPC systems and maintain data collection and performance measurements to track performance consistency.
  • Collaborate with vendors to assess specifications, purchase of equipment, and evaluate products against quality standards.
