Summary of Position The team supports engineering groups working on electrical, electromechanical, and mechanical systems by developing process and technology solutions. While Engineering Services does not design products, it engineers the processes and tools that enable product design teams to work more efficiently. The selected candidate will have the opportunity to support process improvements through the implementation of technology and software solutions. The intern will be assigned a primary project for the summer and will be empowered to lead all aspects of it—from project management and solution development to rollout, communication, and ongoing monitoring once implemented.

Requirements

  • Major(s): Information Systems, IT, Computer Science, Data Science, Software Engineering, or related field.
  • Class Year(s): Junior, Senior.
  • GPA: Min 3.0
  • Technical Skills: Experience with Microsoft Power Platforms preferred (Power BI, Power Automate, Power Apps).
  • Knowledge of project management and process improvement methodologies (Lean Six Sigma, DMAIC, DMEDI, SCRUM).
  • Knowledge of Python and/or JSON preferred.
  • Database development experience preferred.
  • Strong academic project experience, including Capstone participation.
  • Engagement in extracurricular activities.
  • Willingness for future mobility.
  • Effective Communication, Self-starter – Ability to drive work.
  • Leadership Skills: Agility, Building Trusting Relationships, Decision Making Skills, & Resilience.
  • Availability: Must be available to work in St. Petersburg, FL from May 18, 2026 – Aug 7, 2026.

Responsibilities

  • Develop a project plan to complete the assigned task within the internship timeline, including milestones, timelines, and success criteria.
  • Research and understand the current process, then improve it through software, automation, or other enhancement methods.
  • Develop software and/or automation tools using Microsoft Power Platform, Python, Mendix, or other applications.
  • Collaborate with a cross‑functional team to implement the improved process and solution.
  • Develop and implement monitoring tools for the process, including Power BI dashboards and automated alerts via Power Automate.
  • Work with engineers globally to support Engineering Services initiatives.
  • Assist in building databases and dashboards for key processes and engineering data.
  • Support the standardization of processes and procedures across engineering organizations serving multiple industries.
  • Prioritize and complete additional tasks as assigned.
