As a Process Improvement Engineer, you will play a key role in driving equipment reliability, process stability, and operational excellence within a high-volume manufacturing environment. You will serve as the technical owner for your assigned production area—leading troubleshooting efforts, guiding corrective actions, and partnering cross-functionally to continuously improve safety, quality, delivery, and cost. This role offers hands-on engineering responsibility, meaningful influence on production performance, and the opportunity to support new product introductions and continuous improvement initiatives.

Requirements

  • Bachelor’s degree in Engineering or a related technical field.
  • Minimum of 3 years of experience in manufacturing engineering, operations, quality, or equivalent experience (including co-ops and internships).
  • Hands-on experience troubleshooting high-volume manufacturing equipment.
  • Strong analytical, problem-solving, and project management skills.
  • Proficiency in Microsoft Office tools and the ability to quickly learn new systems.

Nice To Haves

  • Experience with fabrication and injection molding equipment.
  • Hands-on robotics and controls experience in automated manufacturing environments.
  • Knowledge of appliance manufacturing processes.
  • Experience with controls, preventive maintenance, mechanical, hydraulic, pneumatic, and electrical systems.
  • PLC, distributed I/O, and servo controls experience.
  • Lean manufacturing and Six Sigma experience or certification.
  • Formal project management experience or training.

Responsibilities

  • Equipment & Process Ownership
  • Own all equipment and tooling in the assigned production area following Engineering sign-off.
  • Act as the primary technical troubleshooting resource for process and equipment issues on your assigned shift.
  • Lead and support control operators and maintenance technicians during equipment repairs.
  • Monitor, analyze, and improve Overall Equipment Effectiveness (OEE).
  • Recommend and evaluate equipment and tooling improvements; support specification reviews and sign-off for new equipment purchases.
  • Lead corrective actions for Preventive Maintenance (PM) plans to ensure compliance and maximize uptime.
  • Partner with Maintenance Leadership to prioritize and manage maintenance action items.
  • Ensure equipment calibration compliance.
  • Manage special tooling, including spares, documentation, and facilities hand-offs.
  • Provide feedback on equipment specifications aligned with GE Appliances standards and lessons learned.
  • Safety & Compliance
  • Partner with Operations Leaders to identify, implement, and sustain safety improvements.
  • Support closure of safety action items, including those from near misses, incident reports, and ergonomic assessments.
  • Maintain and improve Lockout/Tagout (LOTO) procedures and participate in required annual training.
  • Process Control & Stability
  • Actively contribute to the development and execution of Manufacturing Control Plans.
  • Maintain and update process-level standards and work instructions.
  • Collaborate cross-functionally with Operations, Quality, Safety, and Engineering to resolve production issues quickly and effectively.
  • Continuous Improvement
  • Lead structured problem-solving efforts, including root cause analysis and corrective action implementation.
  • Share best practices and lessons learned across the organization.
  • Support Operations Leaders in planning and executing continuous improvement initiatives.
  • New Product Introduction (NPI)
  • Coordinate with Engineering teams on equipment procurement, installation, and qualification.
  • Collaborate with Design Engineering and Technology teams on model changes and line setups.
  • Review prototypes and concepts for manufacturability.
  • Provide feedback on capacity, operator impact, and long-term process sustainability.
  • Interface with vendors, OEMs, and Facilities Engineering to understand maintenance requirements and troubleshooting methods; share knowledge across teams.
