The Process Expert (Part Time) focuses on ensuring the consistent performance and reliability of systems and equipment within the organization. The role involves analyzing data to identify potential failures, implementing reliability-centered maintenance strategies, and developing improvement plans to enhance operational uptime. Collaborates with cross-functional teams to establish metrics, conduct root cause analysis, and integrate best practices that promote long-term reliability and efficiency.

Requirements

  • BS Degree in Chemical, Electrical, Mechanical Engineering or related discipline and 20 years of experience OR MS Degree with 15 years of experience.
  • Engineering experience in PSM processes involving highly hazardous materials; chlorine, phosphorus, and phosphorus trichloride.
  • Versed in the application of the HHM Guidelines for the aforementioned hazardous chemicals.
  • Familiar with the Chlorine Institute pamphlets as RAGAGEP documents to incorporate into plant operations and maintenance.
  • Experienced in Management of Change, PHA, HAZOP, and What-If risk assessment methodologies to ensure process safety for chemical manufacturing plants.
  • Technical expert in OSHA CFR PSM process documentation maintaining process flow diagrams, process chemistry, details of the process, engineering flow diagrams, operating procedures, operating limits and critical variables, Management of Change, Process Hazard Analysis, unit training, equipment files, functional safety interlocks, and related safety and environmental documents.

Responsibilities

  • Evaluate tactical decisions and provide advice on long-term direction to direct area performance goals related to safety, quality, waste minimization, capacity, reliability, and operability.
  • Consult with corporate and site production planners on production time, strategy, and raw material availability.
  • Assist site and plant management in evaluating and achieving key performance indicators related to safety, quality, waste minimization, capacity, reliability, and operability.
  • Analyze site and plant performance issues related to safety, quality, environmental impact, capacity, reliability, and operability leading to proposal and implementation of sound technical solutions.
  • Serve as SME and site representative for design, construction, and implementation of investment projects – interfacing with technical professionals from other disciplines within the region (e.g. PCT, project engineering, environmental and utility services operations, and process development).
  • Monitor standards for site operating documentation (e.g. standard operating procedures, process descriptions, material and energy balances, P&IDs, and operating data collection and retrieval).
  • Propose and execute action to direct multi-disciplinary optimization and reliability teams across sites; guiding development of continuous improvement goals, resource prioritization, and communication of financial or other performance metrics.
  • Act as a process expert for HAZOP and other Process Hazard Analyses techniques; guides timely resolution of identified process safety risks.
  • Designs and executes plant trials directed at enhancing site performance.
  • Serve as manufacturing representative on Technical Core Team for assigned processes; holds responsibilities associated with maintaining the Process Management File; approves process changes and deviations from established operating limits.
  • Direct adherence to procedures, guidelines, design standards, and technologies across the Site as a SME; lead or represent Site on corporate teams.
  • Serve as a coach for junior engineers.
  • Guide experience exchanges and promote knowledge transfers with other site Engineers.
  • Champion self-development, technical training and technical mentoring to develop and engage other engineers and area personnel.
  • Support Site and Area Production System improvements, OnePS.
