About The Position

KBR Sustainable Technology Solutions (STS) provides holistic and value-added solutions across the entire asset life cycle. These include world-class licensed process technologies, differentiated advisory services, deep technical domain expertise, energy transition solutions, high-end design capabilities, and smart solutions to optimize planned and operating assets. KBR is seeking a Process Engineer – LNG for its Houston office. Under general supervision, the successful candidate will independently apply advanced process engineering principles and techniques, exercise sound judgment in resolving complex engineering challenges, and make informed decisions regarding engineering methods and solutions. This role includes representing KBR in technical discussions, conferences, and meetings to address critical technical questions and to engage with key engineers and officials from client, partner, and regulatory organizations. Functional job responsibilities will include but are not limited to: Serve as a Process Engineer supporting grassroots and revamp engineering projects for LNG production facilities, including utilities, liquefaction, and pre-treatment units. Execute process engineering work for large- and medium-sized projects, or discrete areas within major projects, in compliance with applicable industry codes, standards, and best practices. Develop and deliver core process engineering outputs, including process simulations and modeling; heat, material, and utility balances; process flow diagrams (PFDs); piping and instrumentation diagrams (P&IDs); hydraulic calculations; flare and relief analyses; and process design parameters. Perform equipment design and/or rating for process equipment such as vessels, columns, heat exchangers, pumps, and related systems. Conduct process studies, including process optimization, flare and relief systems, blowdown and depressurizing systems, vent systems, cooling and heating media studies, utility system sizing, and produced water treatment evaluations. Participate in and support process safety activities, including HAZOP, HAZID, and other process safety assessments. Provide technical leadership and guidance on complex process engineering issues, applying independent analysis and professional judgment.

Requirements

  • Bachelor’s or Master’s degree in Chemical Engineering (Mechanical Engineering considered with relevant process engineering experience).
  • Minimum of seven (7) years of progressively responsible experience in process engineering, preferably within a major EPC (Engineering, Procurement, and Construction) organization rather than an operating/production facility.
  • Demonstrated experience executing FEED (Front End Engineering Design) projects; prior LNG project experience is strongly preferred.
  • Proficiency in industry-standard process engineering software, including Aspen HYSYS, Aspen Plus, and PipeSim, for process simulation, analysis, and design.
  • Strong leadership, communication, and interpersonal skills, with the ability to collaborate effectively across multidisciplinary engineering teams and with project stakeholders.
