There are still lots of open positions. Let's find the one that's right for you.

Danfoss in Ames, IA, is offering a fantastic opportunity for students pursuing degrees in Industrial, Mechanical, or Agricultural Engineering to gain valuable real-world experience through a Process Engineering Internship. This role is designed to provide hands-on experience in a dynamic manufacturing environment, where interns will collaborate closely with Process and Manufacturing Engineers. The internship will focus on various aspects of the manufacturing facility, including assembly line design and improvements, the implementation of new manufacturing technologies, and enhancements in inventory management. Interns will have the flexibility to start their internship in either January or May 2025, allowing for a tailored experience that fits their academic schedule. As a Process Engineering Intern, you will be involved in a range of responsibilities that are critical to the efficiency and effectiveness of our manufacturing processes. You will assist in designing and improving assembly line layouts and flow, which is essential for optimizing production efficiency. Additionally, you will engage in detailed data collection and analysis, including time studies, material flow assessments, and waste analysis, to identify areas for improvement. Working alongside the supply chain team, you will contribute to enhancing inventory management practices, ensuring that materials are available when needed without excess waste. The role also includes assisting in the implementation of new equipment on assembly lines, which may involve performing capability studies to ensure that new technologies meet operational standards. You will help design and implement Poka-Yokes, which are error-proofing mechanisms that enhance quality control on the assembly line. Furthermore, you will be involved in implementing manufacturing controls and process improvements, focusing on ergonomics to enhance worker safety and efficiency. Collaboration with the manufacturing excellence group will provide exposure to cutting-edge manufacturing technologies, including augmented reality (AR), virtual reality (VR), simulation, digital twins, collaborative robotics, automated guided vehicles (AGVs), advanced vision systems, and advanced Manufacturing Execution Systems (MES). This internship is an excellent opportunity to apply theoretical knowledge in a practical setting while contributing to innovative projects that drive the sustainable transformation of tomorrow.
