About The Position

Under the supervision of a Process Engineer, the accepted candidate will work on projects to support process improvements applied to the Environmental Technologies processes. These projects may include evaluating the impacts of process variables on end product attributes, identifying incoming product attributes that impact the firing process yield, and projects geared at increasing manufacturing throughput through firing process innovation.

Requirements

  • Enrolled in an Undergraduate or Graduate Level Engineering program; preference for Material Science, Chemical or Mechanical Engineering.
  • Actively enrolled at a college or university as a full-time student seeking a Bachelor's Degree or higher.
  • Working knowledge of Microsoft Excel for data analysis.
  • Working knowledge or experience with design of experiments (DOE) concepts.
  • Available for 10 weeks during Summer 2026 (May-August 2026) with a graduation date of December 2026 or later.
  • Interest in working for Corning, Inc after graduation, if presented with a full-time job opportunity.
  • Willingness to work at the posted job location.

Nice To Haves

  • Current cumulative GPA of 3.00 or higher (on a 0.00 to 4.00 scale).
  • Understanding or experience with thermodynamic principles.
  • Basic understanding of ceramic sintering process.
  • Demonstrated communication and interpersonal skills.
  • Collaboration in a multicultural environment.
  • Willingness to work with hands.
  • Experience with Six Sigma DMAIC or similar principles.
