About The Position

Lindsay Corporation is searching for a motivated and detail-oriented Process Engineering Intern to join our electronics manufacturing team located at our newly renovated facility in Olathe, KS. This is a full-time, paid internship, position beginning June 1, 2026. The duration of the internship will be approximately ten weeks. The intern will work directly with experienced process engineers to develop, optimize, and troubleshoot manufacturing processes for our high-volume electronics assembly lines. This is a hands-on opportunity to gain practical experience with core Surface Mount Technology (SMT) and assembly equipment, including high-speed pick-and-place, wave solder, and conformal coating machinery. Hours will be 6:00am - 3:30pm Monday through Thursday. 6:00am-2:30pm Friday. Every-other-Friday off. Extension of normal hours may be necessary depending on business needs.

Requirements

  • Currently enrolled in an accredited college or university pursuing an Associate's or Bachelor's degree in Manufacturing Engineering, Electrical Engineering, Mechanical Engineering, or a related technical field
  • Strong analytical and problem-solving skills
  • Proficiency in Microsoft Office Suite (Excel, Word, PowerPoint)
  • Ability to work both independently and as part of a team
  • Excellent verbal and written communication skills
  • A strong desire to learn a hands-on approach to engineering challenges

Nice To Haves

  • Prior experience in a manufacturing or engineering environment is a plus but not required
  • Knowledge of CAD software (e.g., SolidWorks, AutoCAD) is beneficial

Responsibilities

  • Assist in analyzing manufacturing process data, using tools like Statistical Process Control (SPC), to identify defects and recommend improvements
  • Shadow and assist engineers and technicians in the setup, operation, and maintenance of SMT equipment
  • Help monitor and adjust equipment parameters to ensure precise and efficient component placement
  • Aid in setting up and operating wave solder machines, monitoring quality, and inspecting solder joints
  • Support the application of protective coatings to printed circuit boards (PCBs), including operating automated equipment and performing quality checks
  • Gather process and equipment data to help identify trends, troubleshoot problems, and document results for continuous improvement projects
  • Assist in creating and updating technical documents, including standard operating procedures (SOPs), process sheets, and work instructions
  • Participate in root cause analysis to resolve day-to-day manufacturing issues and assist in implementing corrective actions
  • Work effectively with cross-functional teams, including manufacturing operations, quality control, and design engineering to ensure manufacturing goals are met
  • Apply basic Lean Manufacturing concepts to help reduce waste, improve efficiency, and enhance quality
