The purpose of this internship is to maximize material throughput through EF Slitting by evaluating current processes and identifying opportunities to increase efficiency. The intern will conduct detailed time studies to understand workforce utilization, standard tasks, and material‑handling requirements. Findings will directly influence labor allocation, task sequencing, and operational methods to ensure the maximum amount of material can be effectively and consistently pushed through EF Slitting.

Requirements

  • Rising Juniors or Seniors pursuing a Bachelor’s or Master's in Business Administration, Industrial Management, Operations, Engineering, or a related field.
  • Strong presentation, communication and organizational skills
  • Ability to work independently and take initiative
  • Professional attitude and willingness to learn
  • Desire to work in a team environment.
  • Proficiency in Excel, Word, and PowerPoint to analyze data, create reports, prepare presentations, and document process improvements.
  • Microsoft Visio
  • Ability to create clear process maps, flow diagrams, and layout representations to support material flow analysis and improvement planning.
  • Lean Six Sigma Concepts
  • Foundational understanding of Lean and Six Sigma principles, including waste reduction, visual management, root cause analysis, and continuous improvement methodologies.

Responsibilities

  • Own and manage the production flow through EF Slitting Lines 2 and 3, identified as the primary bottleneck impacting overall manufacturing throughput.
  • Analyze and improve the slitting process with a focus on:
  • Team member efficiency and task execution
  • Scrap rates and quality-related losses
  • Opportunities to increase yield and overall operational efficiency
  • Identification of additional value-added tasks or process changes to improve production flow
  • Conduct detailed time studies, on-the-floor observation, and data analysis to understand current-state performance.
  • Develop and present actionable recommendations to optimize throughput, reduce scrap, and support consistent, reliable production performance.
