The position involves identifying production bottlenecks, developing and executing action plans, and assessing the results. The role requires assisting Process Engineers with designs, support, research, and hands-on applications. The individual will provide technical support to production, maintenance, environmental, and quality teams, while monitoring the reliability of processes to define paybacks for improvements. Inspections during major outages of refractory and instrumentation will be performed, along with preparing shutdown reports. The candidate will document problems related to processes or systems as observed from production and review results with the plant team to initiate, recommend, provide, and/or implement solutions. Conducting process and energy audits to identify opportunities for cost savings is also a key responsibility. The role includes tracking and performing raw material analysis for optimal fuel and stone usage, monitoring stone quality, size, and gradation, and understanding fuel quality analysis and its impact on product quality. The candidate will prepare and maintain Standard Operating Procedures and manuals, perform miscellaneous reporting as requested, and be responsible for month-end plant material reconciliation and backflushing. The individual will serve as the plant point of contact for kiln and hydrate automation queries, prepare startup and shutdown documentation for kiln operators and assistants, and assist in establishing a kiln refractory budget for 2026.
