This position will work to improve current manufacturing processes to boost productivity, quality, and profitability for the company. The role involves working with production and quality team members to identify and mitigate risks, ensuring equipment is operated safely, processes are run by procedure, and the weekly production schedule is met. The position also includes developing manufacturing standards, reporting and monitoring product area quality, scrap, and rework performance, and planning, organizing, leading, and completing engineering projects/capital projects for new processes. 50% of the time will be spent on the manufacturing floor providing engineering support.

  • Responsible for executing activities associated with detailed construction, analysis, and maintenance of the Variant Configurators for HPG Global.
  • Designs and maintains SAP VC models, object dependencies, variant tables, classification hierarchies, material masters, bill of materials, routings, and variant conditions for pricing and purchasing in the SAP system.
  • Primary support of SAP / SAP systems and Harris equipment products.
  • Works on characteristics, class, configuration profiles, Super Bill of Materials, Super Routings, object dependencies, Configurable materials, and variant pricing.
  • Participates in team meetings and applies continuous improvement methods and tools.
  • Creates and maintains the Variant Configurator data using relational tables and coded procedures.
  • Performs integration testing of the variant configurator models in SAP/R3 environments.
  • Assists in the development and validation of training materials for new models.
  • Tracks project savings.
  • Leads Corrective Actions and proactive process improvements using various six sigma tools.
  • Guides reduction efforts for manufacturing cost and cost of poor quality.
  • Interprets drawing and spec requirements and translates into robust manufacturing processes.
  • Works with production teams to ensure correct procedures and work instructions are in place and followed.
  • Assesses safety requirements and makes recommendations to integrate improvements.
  • Reviews process scrap and works with the Quality Department to identify quality issues.
  • Reviews status of production schedule with teams.
  • Works with teams to utilize lean tools: 5s, visual factory concepts.
  • Creates weekly scrap reports and posts graphs.
  • Supports sustaining engineering requirements such as Engineering Change Requests (ECRS) and New Part Requests (NPRs).
  • Assists maintenance with technical expertise in timely repair of all equipment.
  • Works with teams to ensure tooling and repair part Kanban is in place.
  • Ensures all equipment has an approved LOTO Placard and proper preventive maintenance schedule.
  • Works on cost savings projects, Six Sigma projects, and provides support for other team meetings.
  • Researches, designs, and draws sketches from initial concepts for various products and equipment.
  • Presents designs, drawings, cost estimates, and project plans for review.
  • Tracks project costs and project improvement savings.
  • Provides periodic reports on the status of project milestones.
  • Bachelor’s Degree in Engineering discipline such as Metallurgy, Chemical, Industrial or Mechanical.
  • Excellent process troubleshooting skills.
  • Proficient in Solid Works.
  • Proficient in Microsoft Office and Mini tab.
  • Bachelor’s Degree in Mechanical Engineering.
  • Six Sigma Training - Certified Green Belt or higher.
  • Excellent troubleshooting skills in PLCs, electrical, mechanical, hydraulic, and pneumatic systems for production machinery.
