Maintain and enhance manufacturing processes to control costs, increase productivity, shorten lead times, provide acceptable quality, ensure safety and further the cause of Continuous Improvement. Work with the Product Engineer in determining cost of production for new and existing processes and production. Directly support Sales Department by assisting with quotations and contract review to determine feasibility of new product based on costing, customer specifications, and volume potential. Assist with technical aspects of new or changed products concerning such properties as composition, dimensions and tolerances of products. Also approve drawings and specifications. Assist with the testing of new or changed products by performing necessary experiments, creating prototypes and any other testing needed, (i.e. testing for corrosion resistance, conductivity, stiffness, straightness, weatherability, strength). Upon the successful quoting of a product, responsible for the introduction of that product to production by interfacing with production departments and management for an efficient transition to production. Work for Continuous Improvement in new and existing product by being a champion for change, helping to set priorities and goals for improvement. Provide technical advice to help in solving process problems. Interface with production workers, management, Product Engineers and customers as needed in creating new processes or working on improvements on existing processes.
