Requirements

  • 4 year / Bachelor's Degree
  • Two (2) or more years Process engineering experience or equivalent ability in refining industry

Responsibilities

  • Provides troubleshooting and optimization assistance for operations on assigned unit(s)
  • Conducts daily performance monitoring including mass balance, energy consumption, yields and “process unit health” performance indicators
  • Generates, analyzes, interprets, and disseminates performance indicators and unit operations data for assigned units
  • Evaluates catalyst usage and performance
  • Assists senior engineers with data collection and analysis for identification of short- and long-term process changes to improve unit(s) profitability and optimize efficiency
  • Conducts process operations analysis and economic evaluation using simulation software
  • Participates in the evaluation of equipment design and process development to compromise between process requirements, economics, operator effectiveness and environment/safety objectives
  • Participates in operator process training classes, Management of Change (MOC) development, process hazard analysis (PHAs) and piping and instrumentation diagram/drawing (P&ID) verification
  • Develops and maintains critical cross-functional relationships (i.e., refinery economics, operations, lab, maintenance, etc.) to optimize unit performance to constraints
  • Employs industry best practices and standards to compare actual operation to the intended process design with advantages and disadvantages
