About The Position

Our client, a leader in the manufacturing of components for electrical devices such as switches (circuit breakers) and control systems, utilizes molding and metal stamping processes to serve customers in the appliance and electronics industries. The company specializes in the production of high-precision parts for assembly and operates using advanced technologies. They are currently seeking a Process Engineer. Job Summary The Process Engineer is responsible for designing, implementing, validating, optimizing, and controlling operational processes with the goal of improving efficiency, quality, safety, and cost, while ensuring compliance with regulatory and organizational standards. This role involves data analysis, tooling integration, and leading continuous improvement activities using Lean methodologies (SMED, TPM), as well as mentoring and coordinating tool shop and maintenance operators. The individual will also be involved in new product launch preparation and cost analysis activities.

Requirements

  • Education: Bachelor’s degree in Mechanical Engineering, Industrial Engineering, or a related field.
  • Experience: Several years of experience with a strong background in process development and New Product Introduction (NPI).
  • Technical Skills: Proficiency in scientific molding; experience with validation protocols.
  • Methodologies: Knowledge of Lean Manufacturing tools (SMED, OEE, TPM) and Root Cause Analysis methodologies (8D, CAPA, Pareto).
  • Soft Skills: Strong problem-solving skills, leadership, communication abilities, attention to detail, and the ability to work in a fast-paced environment with a sense of urgency and proactivity.
  • Travel: Availability for occasional travel outside Puerto Rico for customer visits, technical support, and site visits as needed.

Nice To Haves

  • Experience with Moldflow analysis and robotics (preferred but optional)

Responsibilities

  • Analyze, design, and optimize production and operational processes to maximize efficiency, yield, and quality.
  • Identify continuous improvement opportunities through data analysis, capability studies, cycle time optimization, and waste reduction.
  • Develop and implement process improvements using methodologies such as Lean Manufacturing, Six Sigma, Kaizen, or similar.
  • Document processes, Standard Operating Procedures (SOPs), process flow diagrams, and process controls.
  • Collaborate with cross-functional teams including Quality, Production, Maintenance, Validation, and Engineering to ensure proper implementation of changes.
  • Lead or support technology transfer initiatives, process scale-up, and new product launches.
  • Evaluate and validate changes to processes, equipment, or materials in accordance with change control procedures.
  • Monitor Key Performance Indicators (KPIs) and prepare technical reports for management.
  • Ensure compliance with applicable safety, quality, and regulatory standards (e.g., GMP, ISO, FDA, OSHA, depending on the industry).
  • Provide technical support in the resolution of deviations, root cause investigations (RCA), and corrective and preventive actions (CAPA).
