Process Engineer (Hybrid/Remote) Our growing firm is looking for passionate problem-solvers driven to make a real impact: we're hiring a Process Engineer. The Process Engineer in this position is responsible for making sound technical decisions within established guidelines and for leading small engineering and design teams in preparation of technical proposals, reports, and project deliverables for industrial and agricultural projects, in a timely and technical-quality appropriate manner, which meets client, contractual and company requirements.

Requirements

  • BS, Chemical, Industrial or Mechanical Engineering or BS Industrial Technology
  • Minimum of 3 years of engineering experience in design and construction (4 years of experience with PE)

Responsibilities

  • Serve as the primary technical client contact on small projects supports large projects as required.
  • Support preparations of proposals.
  • Research, understand and convey client needs for project success.
  • Schedule and track assigned project workflow on small projects.
  • Maintain discipline-specific project scope, schedules and budgets for individual projects and coordinate with disciplines to ensure successful project delivery of small projects.
  • Manage client needs and expectations throughout the project.
  • Support internal and external coordination meetings (clients, equipment suppliers).
  • Prepare and edit specifications and drawings and ensure high-quality design services to specified VAA/client standards working directly with project team.
  • Accountable for all discipline-specific document content.
  • Conduct periodic document reviews to ensure project scope and criteria are met.
  • Communicate with clients/contractors regarding RFI's and field questions.
  • Perform site visits during design phase to verify existing conditions and identify engineering and coordination issues.
  • Perform construction phase site observations on job sites and produce site observation reports as required.
  • Manage project budget and billing; identify and prepare requests for additional services on small projects.
  • Manage project closeout.
  • Keep Principal or Senior Engineer in Charge informed of project progress, challenges and successes.
  • Provide weekly input on personnel scheduling; assist project manager with balanced weekly workload distribution.
  • Support marketing efforts to develop and sustain targeted clients in key market sectors.
  • Develop process mass and energy balances.
  • Develop and oversee preparation of Process Flow Diagrams (PFDs) and Piping and Instrumentation Diagrams (P&IDs).
  • Develop and oversee preparation of process equipment and instrumentation datasheets, procurement lists, and Requests For Proposals (RFPs).
  • Communicate and coordinate with process equipment vendors and technology providers.
  • Oversee preparation of all project-related documents (models, drawings, specifications) for process equipment and related systems.
  • Facilitate and participate in internal team and client project-related meetings.
  • Support project management tasks, such as budget, schedule and scope tracking, change management, etc. as requested by VAA project manager.
  • Potential 25% travel to construction job sites.
  • Provide direction, coordination, and distribute work to project team.
  • Oversee project team and assign work tasks for small projects.
  • Assist in training and mentoring of new staff and provide performance feedback as requested and assist with other supervisory responsibilities as requested
  • Demonstrate leadership with strong engineering analysis and judgment providing appropriate design results and responsiveness to clients.
  • Provide performance feedback for technical and engineering staff as requested.
