About The Position

Make Engineering Real!  The Process Engineer is responsible for process related technical support for the manufacturing site(s).  Will drive Operational Excellence, improving performance in safety, quality, reliability, and cost, and sustainability.  The position holder acts as the technical specialist with the responsibility to improve and develop the plant assets, include scope development and project execution as appropriate.  Supports technical knowledge development of site personnel.This role may also support environmental reporting and other HSE compliance matters.  This role will act as the Continuous Improvement Leader for the Site and region using “The Borealis Way” (TBW) Methodology.Among the primary areas of responsibility, include:•    Improving the efficiency of compounding plant(s) by actively contributing to projects and process improvements.•    Identifying, initiating, and leading Continuous Improvement projects.•    Supporting products and processes focused on improving KPIs such as scrap reduction, first time right, equipment reliability, raw material efficiency, and sustainability.•    Leading efforts to identify technology and capacity improvements.•    Utilizing formal Root Cause Analysis methods to problem solve process issues, define, and implement Corrective Actions to increase equipment capability and improve product quality.•    Identifying and eliminating common causes of product and process variation.•    Conducting process and equipment audits to review critical product characteristics and critical process variables and implement sustainable corrective actions for process upsets.•    As a member of the plant Operational Excellence (OPEX) Core Team., actively participates in leading and facilitating OPEX Teams using the “The Borealis Way” (TBW) methodology.•    Active in information sharing in order to boost team performance.•    Knowledgeable of the risks in the plant area of responsibility in terms of customer specifications.•    Project representative responsible for delivering a well performing solution in all financial categories. •    Supporting the HSE Team, particularly related to environmental compliance and safety related improvements.

Requirements

  • Bachelor of Science, Technical Degree - Chemical or Mechanical Engineering preferred.
  • Practical knowledge of Continuous Improvement tools such as Lean Sigma, 5S, etc.
  • 0 to 5 years of relevant experience, preferably in plastics/rubber compounding.
  • Experienced working with hourly operations personnel in a manufacturing setting.
  • Trouble-shooting and effective use of formal root cause analysis.
  • Risk management experience

  • Project Management experience a plus.
