About The Position

GEA Systems North America LLC is seeking Two (2) Process Engineers in Columbia, MD . Responsibilities to include: Development of process flow diagram (PFD) and heat and mass balance; Coordinate with European Centers of Competence within GEA when needed; Recommend and support laboratory and/or pilot tests; Specification of process equipment including size and materials of construction; Engage and evaluate third-party suppliers’ proposals and equipment selections (pumps, fans, motors, etc.); General guidance for mechanical designers on general arrangement drawings; Support proposal development, generally review and comment but occasionally as an author; Ensure technical compliance with customer specifications; Responsible for GEA process system performance warranties; Complete plant audits to support new opportunities; Visit and meet with customers, usually in support of GEA regional sales managers; Build and maintain relationships with GEA customers, promote GEA within your network; Confirmation and revision of sales activities above, as needed; Create the piping and instrumentation diagram (P&ID) and maintain throughout the project lifecycle; Create, review, and/or approve various lists (equipment, connection point, utilities, valves, instruments); Write parts of the control system functional description and the O&M manual; Approver of general arrangement plot plan and elevation view drawings; Subject matter expert for all things related to the process, e.g. support project manager in procurement; Contribute during internal GEA meetings as well as external customer meetings; Support safety related evaluations such as Hazop meetings; Startup/Commissioning of GEA plants – generally each process engineer starts up their own plants; Training customer process and operations personnel on GEA process systems; and Ongoing customer troubleshooting support. 20%-30% Domestic travel requirement.   • Master’s Degree in Chemical Engineering, Industrial Engineering, Mechanical Engineering, or related field (foreign equivalent) and 12 months of experience in job offered or related field, and the following experience: Industry process engineering; Fluid dynamics and thermodynamics; Reading and interpreting technical specifications and drawings; and MS Office products.
