About The Position

Responsible for designing, developing, optimizing, and troubleshooting processes for the manufacturing of plastic products. This role is vital for ensuring high product quality, maximizing manufacturing efficiency, reducing waste and production costs, and maintaining compliance with safety and environmental regulations. You will work onsite in Ladysmith, WI and report to the Team Lead, Manufacturing Engineering.

Requirements

  • Bachelor's Degree in relevant field.

Nice To Haves

  • 2+ years of process engineering experience
  • Strong knowledge of polymer chemistry, material properties, and processing methods
  • BOM and routing management
  • Microsoft Office Suite, utilizing Excel for data analysis and creating dynamic reports/dashboards to support data-driven decision-making
  • Proficiency in CAD software (PTC Creo & AutoCAD)o Knowledge of Moldflow simulation for plastic injection molding analysis
  • Ability to interpret technical documents, such as machine and mold prints, (beneficial: electrical/hydraulic schematics)
  • Knowledge of SAP

Responsibilities

  • Establish, validate, and optimize robust manufacturing processes for injection molding, and other general assembly, to ensure repeatability and efficiency. This often involves using scientific molding principles.
  • Serve as a subject matter expert and the primary escalation point for complex process-related issues on the production floor. Conduct root cause analysis (RCA) and implement corrective actions to resolve recurring technical challenges and reduce scrap rates.
  • Lead the evaluation and qualification of new resins, including recycled content, and color additives, to meet product specifications and sustainability goals.
  • Create and maintain detailed technical documentation, standard process sheets, and work instructions. Develop and execute training programs for process technicians and operators on new techniques and best practices.
  • Drive and champion lean manufacturing and continuous improvement initiatives (e.g., Kaizen, Six Sigma) to enhance overall performance, improve labor efficiencies, and optimize equipment performance.
  • Work closely with cross-functional teams, including product design, quality assurance, R&D, to ensure seamless integration of plastic components into final products and address technical issues.
  • Capital Projects: Generate ideas for a pipeline of future capital projects. Lead and execute projects that generate productivity and enhance injection molding capabilities.
