About The Position

We are seeking a highly practical and execution-focused Process Engineer to support and improve our custom dry ingredient processing operations. This position is responsible for designing, optimizing, and improving processing systems and material flow throughout our facility. The ideal candidate is comfortable both designing systems and implementing them on the production floor. They will leverage tools like Fusion 360 (or similar), PLCs, VFDs, etc. They will need to have a healthy level of maintenance knowledge to help or dictate system changes in regards to mechanical, electrical, pneumatic, or other concern. This role requires a strong understanding of bulk dry material behavior, mechanical systems, and food manufacturing constraints. The Process Engineer will work closely with production, maintenance, and leadership to increase throughput, reduce downtime, improve quality consistency, and support capital projects. This position will be expected to spend substantial time on the production floor observing, troubleshooting, and collaborating with operators and maintenance personnel. The objective is to diagnose and fix process issues and improve long term reliability of processing systems. This position will support new system setups including capital expense projects which will include coordinating with vendors, helping with budgets and expense, helping with installation, etc. They will also support compliancy initiatives including ensuring processing system designs are compliant with OSHA and FDA regulations.

Requirements

  • Bachelor’s Degree in engineering related discipline
  • Ability to diagnose and repair issues with equipment
  • Strong mechanical and process systems aptitude
  • Comfortable spending significant time on the production floor
  • Able to troubleshoot equipment and process issues in real-time
  • Working knowledge of dry food processing systems such as milling, blending, sifting, pneumatic/mechanical conveying, packaging, material properties, etc.
  • Experience with CAD
  • Experience with process controls and PLCs
