About The Position

Process Engineer (Experience, Senior or Principal) Company: The Boeing Company Boeing Commercial Airplanes (BCA) has an exciting opportunity for a Process Engineer (Experience, Senior or Principal) to join the Supplier Engineering Excellence team based in Everett, Washington. The Process Engineer will lead cross-functional projects that eliminate systemic compliance escapements originating in Boeing and Supplier processes. The role is focused on driving sustained corrective actions, value stream optimization, and configuration-controlled design/supplier solutions to mitigate supplier design compliance escapes and ensure suppliers have all their applicable supplier-delivered specifications, documents, and drawings meet Boeing and FAA requirements. This is a deliverables-focused role that requires a self-starter who can lead project teams, present to senior leadership and regulators, and close compliance gaps end-to-end.

Requirements

  • Bachelor of Science degree in Engineering, Engineering Technology (including Manufacturing Technology), Computer Science, Data Science, Mathematics, Physics, Chemistry or non-US equivalent qualifications directly related to the work statement.
  • 3+ years of engineering experience with configuration management, or compliance engineering (airworthiness/production).

Nice To Haves

  • Level 4: 5+ years of related work experience or an equivalent combination of education and experience.
  • Level 5: 8+ years of related work experience or an equivalent combination of education and experience.
  • Prior experience dealing directly with FAA compliance interactions and audit responses.
  • Working knowledge of MBE deliverables and configuration practices.
  • Familiarity with supplier quality systems and corrective action tracking tools.
  • Experience training supplier and internal customer communities on compliance and drawing conventions.
  • Experience with PDM/Enovia.
  • Extensive experience resolving supplier and product compliance issues: lead root cause investigations (RCCA), define and institutionalize corrective and preventive actions, and demonstrate sustained effectiveness with metrics and audit-ready documentation.
  • Demonstrated ability to lead cross-functional teams and supplier engagements to implement configuration-controlled solutions, close audit findings, and drive value-stream improvements (e.g., VSM/workshops).
  • Strong configuration management expertise: baselines, lifecycle/version control, effectiveness, change control, release processes, and audit practices.
  • Exposure to CAMEO and Systems Engineering best practices.

Responsibilities

  • Lead end-to-end projects to identify, contain, and eliminate systemic supplier compliance escapements (e.g., unreported supplier changes, missing compliance data, incorrect major/minor determinations).
  • Facilitate and execute Value Stream Mapping (VSM) to define As-Is and To-Be processes for Supplier Change Notifications (SCNs), engineering-supplier handoffs, and product data flows.
  • Lead Root Cause Corrective Action (RCCA) efforts, perform in-depth causal analysis, define corrective and preventive actions, manage implementation, and verify sustained effectiveness.
  • Develop, author, and institutionalize process documents, checklists, work instructions, and governance artifacts to ensure repeatable compliance outcomes.
  • Define and execute project plans, schedules, risks, and resourcing to deliver on time, measurable results; own deliverables and closure criteria.
  • Lead and coordinate cross-functional project teams (Supply Chain, Quality, Engineering, Program DOEs, IT, Contracts) to remediate issues listed in the team charter and similar findings.
  • Prepare and deliver clear, executive-level briefings and technical reports to internal stakeholders, Boeing VPs, and the FAA.
  • Partner with Supplier Quality, Engineering IT, and PLM/Data Management to enable tooling, data governance, and digital thread practices that reduce future compliance risk.
  • Train and coach suppliers and internal stakeholders on supplier notification requirements, Boeing drawing conventions, and compliance expectations; support delivery of Supplier Compliance training modules.
  • Track metrics and maintain program artifacts required for audits and continuous improvement (e.g., SCN audit documentation, delinquencies, on-time processing).
  • Demonstrated project leadership: plan, run, and close project teams to deliver measurable program outcomes on schedule.
  • Continuous improvement frameworks: value stream mapping, root cause analysis, Kaizen.
  • Comfort with data-driven decision making and use of metrics to demonstrate closure and sustainability.
  • Exceptional written and oral communication skills; capable of concise technical and executive briefings, including FAA regulators and senior leadership.
  • Self-starter with strong initiative, prioritization, and judgment in ambiguous environments.
