The primary responsibility of this position is to be the engineering resource to assist the operations team to optimize and improve environmental, health, and safety, production throughput, quality and yield.

Requirements

  • A bachelor's degree in chemical engineering or related degree with five or more years of experience is required. Experience in a chemical production facility is highly preferred. The equivalent combination of education and experience will be considered.
  • Project management experience is required, certification highly preferred.
  • Knowledge and experience applying tools and process improvement techniques (FMEA, Six Sigma, PDCA, Lean Manufacturing, Pareto) is required.

Nice To Haves

  • Experience working in a highly regulated environment is a plus.
  • The ability to generate technical drawings using systems such as AutoCAD is preferred.

Responsibilities

  • Develop engineering solutions for production and operations issues.
  • Plan, design, and test chemical manufacturing methods, optimizing plant performance through process automation.
  • Manage process safety hazard analysis, EHS systems, and process documentation (P&IDs), mass and energy balances).
  • Review documentation and processes for new product commercialization from development to production.
  • Lead continuous improvement initiatives and update operational procedures.
  • Investigate root causes of process/equipment nonconformances and participate in broader RCI investigations.
  • Provided engineering support for planning and commissioning production modifications.
  • Provide engineering support for planning and commissioning production modifications.
  • Train and mentor chemical line operators, enhancing their troubleshooting skills.
  • Support Maintenance department with scheduled repairs and preventable maintenance.
  • Coordinate and document Pre-startup Safety Review (PSSR), Management of Change (MOC), and process safety revalidations.
  • Initiate and support process change notifications, qualifications and re-qualification of production equipment and/or processes with customers.
  • Act as Manufacturing Representative for capital projects providing process and design input through project scope, justification, timing, design, and execution support.
