As a Process Engineer, you'll play a crucial role in designing and optimizing manufacturing processes for display and semiconductor manufacturing technologies. You will collect and analyze data, perform hardware characterization, and troubleshoot engineering issues. You'll also measure film properties, generate technical documentation, and engage with customers to resolve concerns. Process Engineers collaborate with vendors and suppliers, and become familiar with implementing new technologies and products. You will experiment, learn, and collaborate with some of the brightest minds in the semiconductor and display industries, partnering with our globally recognized R&D teams on state-of-the-art research and development projects. This job requisition is seeking a Transmission Electron Microscopy (TEM) Engineer. TEM Engineers responsibilities include (but are not limited to): Perform daily TEM analysis, including microstructure and chemical analysis using electron diffraction, EDS, and EELS to support all BU process activities in AMAT. Develop/embrace groundbreaking solutions to device characterization at atomic resolution with high accuracy and reliability for the utilization in semiconductor process. Apply existing and newly developed technologies to tackle challenging process issues and support critical technology development projects. Correlate atomic scale structural and chemical information with processing, physical modeling, and device performance for faster cycles of learning. Drive technology roadmap through collaboration with instrument vendors, industry, and internal teams.

Requirements

  • Strong background and experience in materials characterization using TEM.
  • Programming skills using AI and Python.
  • A self-motivated, phenomenal teammate who enjoys working with others.
  • Experience in creative problem solving and innovative solutions.
  • Excellent knowledge in semiconductor, crystallography and diffraction.
  • Positive and ambitious attitude with effective oral and written communications.
  • Applicants should have a PhD degree or equivalent experience in Engineering, Physics, Materials Science or a semiconductor-related field.

Responsibilities

  • Design, collect data, analyze and compile reports on a variety of difficult process engineering experiments, within safety guidelines
  • Perform hardware characterization on a variety of difficult systems, within safety guidelines
  • Troubleshoot a variety of complex problems, perform Root Cause Analysis and resolve a variety of difficult process engineering issues
  • Generate internal and external documentation for products, presentations and technical reports
  • Interact with customers to resolve a variety of difficult process engineering issues/problems with limited supervision
  • Measure film properties and interpret data
  • Identify, select and work with vendors and suppliers with limited supervision
  • Implement new technology, products and analytical instrumentation
