About The Position

The Process Engineer is responsible for improving manufacturing process reliability, repeatability, and asset performance through the application of Lean principles, standard work, and structured problem solving.  This role will support Rochester Midland’s manufacturing operations by developing repeatable processes, improving equipment and packaging performance, and helping establish the foundation for the company’s Asset Utilization program.  This is a hands-on engineering role with significant plant-floor engagement and cross-functional collaboration.

Requirements

  • Bachelor’s degree in Chemical Engineering, Mechanical Engineering, or Industrial Engineering
  • 3-6 years of experience in a manufacturing or plant-based engineering role
  • Practical experience applying Lean manufacturing principles
  • Experience in packaging operations, process manufacturing, or consumer products
  • Experience working directly with equipment vendors or OEMs
  • Six Sigma Black Belt ordemonstratedadvanced Six Sigma capability
  • Familiarity with assetutilization, equipment performance metrics, or OEE concepts
  • Proficiencywith Microsoft Office and Outlook, including strong Excel skills
  • Strong analytical and problem-solving skills
  • Ability to perform/prioritize multiple tasks to meet various deadlines
  • Detail oriented with stronganalyticalandorganizationalskills
  • Excellent oral and written communication skills
  • Ability to manage priorities, and work across departments effectively

Responsibilities

  • Develop,maintain, and improve standard operating procedures (SOPs) to support safe, consistent, and efficient manufacturing and packaging operations
  • Ensure SOPs and standard work are practical, operator-friendly, and aligned with actual plant execution
  • Support training and adoption of standard work in partnership with Operations and Quality
  • Support the development and deployment of Rochester Midland’s Asset Utilization framework
  • Analyze equipment performance data (uptime, downtime, changeovers, losses) toidentifyimprovement opportunities
  • Lead or support initiatives to improve equipment reliability, throughput, and consistency—particularly within packaging operations
  • Apply Lean and Six Sigma tools to reduce waste, variation, and process instability
  • Lead focused improvement projects and Kaizen activities aligned with plant and business priorities
  • Use structured problem-solving methods (e.g., root cause analysis, statistical analysis) to address chronic operational issues
  • Partner with Operations, Maintenance, and Quality to drive sustainable process improvements
  • Work directly with equipment vendors and OEMs tooptimizeequipment performance and support trials, upgrades, and improvements
  • Provide technical input into equipment modifications and process changes
  • Maintain regular presence on the plant floor to understand processes,identifyissues, and support implementation
  • Translate improvement concepts into practical, executable solutions that operators and supervisors can sustain
