About The Position

Seeking a Process Engineer with a background in Chemical Engineering to support the installation, integration, and optimization of production lines at a facility in Greenville, IL. The process involves converting raw corn into dried corn flour packaged in 2,000-lb supersacks for use in tortilla and chip production. The role requires technical expertise in process design, equipment integration, and system validation, ensuring utilities and infrastructure meet production needs.

Requirements

  • Bachelor’s degree in Chemical Engineering is highly preferred.
  • Proven experience as a Process Engineer in food, beverage, or chemical manufacturing.
  • Strong knowledge of heat/mass transfer, drying operations, and bulk solids handling.
  • Familiarity with process utilities and supporting infrastructure.
  • Experience with commissioning, validation, and process optimization.
  • Excellent analytical, communication, and cross-functional collaboration skills.
  • 20% travel required to visit facilities in Indianapolis and Chicago.

Responsibilities

  • Provide process engineering support for the installation and startup of new milling and drying systems.
  • Collaborate with plant personnel and OEMs to define technical requirements for equipment, system integration, mechanical/electrical installation, and controls.
  • Evaluate existing systems and utilities to determine capacity, demand, and process gaps.
  • Ensure utilities (electrical, compressed air, steam/condensate, boilers, heat exchangers, water systems, UV treatment, natural gas, etc.) meet process needs.
  • Provide engineering oversight for process equipment such as pneumatic blowers, grinders, dewatering systems, milling equipment, sifters, kettles, transfer systems, bins, and filtration units.
  • Support design and specification of process structures, platforms, and supports in collaboration with structural engineers.
  • Lead technical reviews of equipment and process designs, ensuring compliance with performance and safety requirements.
  • Oversee process validation, commissioning, and performance testing of new equipment.
  • Develop and document process flow diagrams (PFDs), piping and instrumentation diagrams (P&IDs), material balances, and mass/energy requirements.
  • Monitor process performance and recommend design or operational improvements.
  • Ensure projects remain on schedule and within budget while delivering safe, efficient, and reliable operations.
  • Document lessons learned to support replication and installation of future production lines.
