The internal Process Engineer will drive measurable, sustainable improvements in internal processes that reduce waste, improve quality, and accelerate delivery across Interstates. The role interfaces regularly with delivery leaders, process owners, SMEs, IT/digital, quality/safety, finance, and PMO; leads cross-functional project execution. The ideal candidate will possess a strong foundation in Lean principles, project management expertise, and exceptional communication abilities to lead transformative projects.   • Engage process owners and stakeholders to capture objectives, pain points, and constraints.
  • Map current-state processes; identify waste, bottlenecks, and failure modes.
  • Analyze baseline performance and variability using data.
  • Develop problem statements, hypotheses, and a prioritized improvement backlog aligned to organizational goals.
  • Translate insights into practical solutions: standard work, visual management, layout/5S, workload leveling, and error-proofing.
  • Design simple technology enablers with IT/digital teams: digital work instructions, mobile data capture, workflow automation/RPA, alerts/notifications, dashboards.
  • Build pilots to validate feasibility, adoption, and impact; refine based on feedback and data.
  • Lead cross-functional project execution per approved charters, timelines, and milestones; manage risks, issues, and dependencies.
  • Establish KPIs and process controls (SPC/control charts, alerts), standard operating procedures, and layered process audits.
  • Hand off to process owners with documented control plans and governance cadence.
  • Track before/after KPIs and quantify impact on cycle time, quality, throughput, cost, safety, and stakeholder experience.
  • Conduct sustainment checks; monitor process behavior and adoption; trigger corrective actions when needed.
  • Package proven solutions into reusable templates/kits and scale across similar processes, sites, or teams.
  • Bachelor's degree in industrial engineering, Business, Operations, or related field; or equivalent experience.
  • 3-5 years in process engineering, operational excellence, or project management within operations or shared services.
  • Proficiency in process mapping tools, project management software, and data analysis.
  • Strong analytical thinking, problem-solving abilities, and excellent verbal and written communication skills.
  • Lean Six Sigma (Green Belt or higher) or equivalent applied experience.
  • Experience in change management and leading organizational transformation initiatives.
