About The Position

AMETEK Specialty Metal Products (SMP) is a division of AMETEK, Inc. a leading global manufacturer of electronic instruments and electromechanical devices. The Specialty Metal Products division includes seven successful businesses with operating facilities in the United States, United Kingdom, and Malaysia. With a strong focus on safety, the AMETEK Hamilton Precision Metals plant in Lancaster, PA custom re-roll precision metal strip and foil, including titanium, nickel and nickel-based alloys, stainless steel and super alloys with applications in medical, aerospace, electronics, and process control. We are seeking a safety-conscious, action-oriented Process Engineer to join our team. Reporting to the Process Engineering Manager, this role is responsible for being a primary resource in continuous improvement efforts, problem solving, and process metallurgy to meet customer demands.

Requirements

  • Bachelor's degree in engineering, preferably in Metallurgy, Materials Science, or Chemistry.
  • Preferably 2-5 years' experience working in a manufacturing environment. Cold rolling of specialty metals a plus.
  • Demonstrated problem solving skills to drive continuous improvement initiatives.
  • Strong verbal and written communication skills.
  • Ability to travel to visit customers on an as needed basis.
  • Ability to wear Personal Protective Equipment (PPE) including but not limited to: hard hat, safety glasses, gloves, steel-toed boots, and hearing protection.

Responsibilities

  • Support Safety initiative to have an injury free work-place.
  • Support quality processes with the objective of reducing the cost of poor quality to AMETEK and its customers through the application of root cause analysis for the development and implementation of corrective actions to address nonconformance issues.
  • Develop understanding of process routing and assign process flow paths to ensure satisfaction of customer requirements for product.
  • Demonstrate ability to assess and initiate opportunities for improving yield, reducing costs, and improving workflow.
  • Support the operations within the metallurgical lab and quality inspectors based on operational and customer needs.
  • Must be able to perform product specification and sales review to determine capabilities for meeting customer requirements.
  • Individual must understand metallography and mechanical testing equipment.
