About the position

The position provides leadership in developing and implementing processes to continuously improve safety, increase productivity, and ensure quality in an oriented strand board plant. The role involves maintaining expertise in operational processes, monitoring production downtime, leading process improvement meetings, formulating cost estimates, ensuring operator safety, and maintaining professional knowledge through workshops and publications.

Responsibilities

  • Maintain expertise in all aspects of operational processes and methods to improve processes, including electrical, mechanical, and information technology.
  • Monitor and analyze the root causes of significant production downtime and develop recommendations for improvements.
  • Lead Process Improvement meetings with operators to prioritize safety, quality, and production issues.
  • Formulate cost and expenditure estimates for management planning and project monitoring.
  • Ensure the safety of operators by eliminating or minimizing hazardous working conditions.
  • Maintain professional and technical knowledge through educational workshops and professional societies.
  • Perform other duties as assigned.

Requirements

  • Bachelor of Science Degree in an Engineering Discipline, preferably Mechanical or Electrical.
  • 1-3 years' experience in a manufacturing environment preferred.
  • Basic knowledge of Six Sigma, preferably Green Belt.
  • Experience in Lean Manufacturing and familiarity with Lean tools such as 5S, SMED, and Kaizen.
  • Self-starter with the ability to work individually and in a team.
  • Leadership ability to lead teams and facilitate meetings.
  • Thorough knowledge of Microsoft Office Suite.
