As a Process Engineer at 3M, you will have the opportunity to tap into your curiosity and collaborate with some of the most innovative people around the world. This position provides an opportunity to transition from other private, public, government or military experience to a 3M career. You will support manufacturing operations to ensure uninterrupted quality production of life-saving products, coordinating project timelines, budgets, construction activity, and personnel to successfully complete assigned projects involving process improvement and/or automated assembly. You will also define and execute competitive bidding strategies, specify equipment performance and mechanical design criteria for automated assembly and inspection, and lead automation projects that deliver products and processes of validated quality and performance while maintaining effective communication with project teams, operations staff, and engineering colleagues.

  • Support manufacturing operations to ensure uninterrupted quality production of life-saving products.
  • Coordinate project timelines, budgets, construction activity, and personnel for successful project completion.
  • Define and execute competitive bidding strategies.
  • Specify equipment performance and mechanical design criteria for automated assembly and inspection.
  • Lead automation projects that deliver validated quality and performance.
  • Establish accountability through understanding applicable codes and guidelines.
  • Bachelor's degree or higher in an Engineering discipline from an accredited institution.
  • Experience in manufacturing and/or assembly process development in a private, public, government, or military environment.
  • Experience in project management.
  • Experience in mechanical drafting, 3D modeling, machine design, fixture development, and process integration.
  • Demonstration of skill in 3D CAD modeling (SolidWorks preferred).
  • Effective equipment specification and procurement for automated or robotic assembly applications.
  • Ability to demonstrate effective project management with results of project validation and acceptance criteria.
  • Application of Lean Manufacturing and Six Sigma methodologies.
  • Prior experience with light assembly, assembly automation, robotic applications, material handling, or inspection equipment.
  • Self-motivated and ready to solve challenging problems.
  • Strong interpersonal communication and collaboration skills.
  • Experience with Minitab, MS PowerApps/PowerBI, and SAP.
