About The Position

The Process Engineer is responsible for troubleshooting materials, processes, and tooling production issues in a plastic extrusion environment. This role requires a strong background in polymer extrusion, with a preference for candidates who have experience in plastics (Injection/Extrusion) and medical device processes. The engineer will work closely with Production Managers to resolve ongoing production issues and assist in the transition of new process developments. Additionally, the Process Engineer will lead process optimization and continuous improvement activities, start up new equipment, and train operators. Establishing and maintaining best practice operating procedures is essential, as well as collaborating with Maintenance to ensure the safe and continuous operation of extrusion equipment. The engineer will also work with design engineering staff to improve equipment performance and reliability, supporting and driving the Zeus Operating System Dimensions and Guiding/Supporting Principles.

Requirements

  • Prior experience in polymer extrusion preferred.
  • Experience in plastics (Injection/Extrusion) and medical device processes preferred.
  • 4-year Engineering Degree, preferably in Mechanical Engineering.
  • Experience with Lean Manufacturing Systems or Lean Certification preferred.
  • Ability to understand and document a process accurately.
  • Excellent troubleshooting and problem-solving skills.
  • Excellent communication skills.
  • Detail-oriented and able to handle multiple projects.
  • Project management skills.
  • Experience with continuous improvement, Kaizen, SPC, and TPM.
  • Ability to work in a team environment and independently.

Nice To Haves

  • Black belt / six sigma certification desired.
  • Hands-on style.
