The Process Engineer role at Syensqo is focused on providing technical expertise and engineering support for the Long Beach plant. This position involves leading process optimization efforts, troubleshooting processes, and supporting capital projects. The engineer will work closely with new product introductions and feasibility studies, ensuring effective process design and compliance with safety regulations.

  • Perform feasibility studies for technology transfers and new product introductions.
  • Provide process-related support to incident investigations, process deviations, and MOCs.
  • Identify process variations and implement measures to reduce such variations, tracking the effectiveness of reduction measures.
  • Assist with analyzing process data and critical quality parameters for control of the manufacturing process.
  • Implement process optimization improvements and manage OEE reporting and analysis.
  • Investigate off-grade batches, identify root cause, report findings, and implement action items.
  • Prepare/update/create/manage flow diagrams, batch sheets, P&IDs, SOPs, and equipment and control specifications.
  • Provide training to maintenance and production employees on unit operations, chemistries, and batch recipes or DCS changes/enhancements in regard to production.
  • Responsible for day-to-day process firefighting associated with production.
  • Provide minor support for the plant DCS and PLC control system including programming and troubleshooting.
  • Assume primary responsibility for maintaining and updating the plant PI process book data historian.
  • Provide process input to the creation of manufacturing batch sheets and work in collaboration with the laboratory manager for plant/lab unity.
  • Perform and embrace Manufacturing Excellence.
  • Comply with all Syensqo safety rules and company policies.
  • Participate, coordinate and/or lead process hazard reviews, pre-startup safety reviews, and management of change.
  • BS degree in Chemical Engineering or related field, entry-level and all higher levels of experience will be considered.
  • Basic process design understanding of analytical, flow, level, pressure, temperature, and weight system instruments, and of pumps, tanks, and pressure vessel design.
  • Strong communication skills (oral and written) and ability to create procedures and train operations personnel.
  • Ability to read, understand and develop P&IDs, batch sheets, process flow diagrams, and other engineering documents.
  • In-depth knowledge of computers and Microsoft Office software, engineering spreadsheets/calculations.
  • Organized, systematic, independent, and self-motivated individual.
  • Ability to work in a team environment.
  • Capable of fieldwork as needed to collect and verify data.
  • Must have the ability to learn new programs and software as needed.
  • Ability to work under pressure and change assignments quickly.
  • Base salary range of $90,880-113,600 per year.
