Techniplas has long-term relationships with many of the world's leading automotive and industrial OEMs. SUMMARY OF POSITION: The Process Engineer is responsible for setting up and maintaining injection molding machines to ensure optimum operating efficiency. The role also provides support to the execution of the production/try out schedule and applies knowledge of molding machine setup and operating techniques.

Monitors, measures and reports manufacturing performance and develops new techniques to reduce losses and improve quality. Recommends and implements changes to product or process which would improve cost, delivery, and quality for the customer.
Works on projects to improve efficiency- ie. run rates, setup time, yield
Reads operating logs to identify inoperative injection machines, determines reasons for machine malfunctions, and arranges for machine repair.
Recommends measures to improve production methods, equipment performance, and quality of product, and suggests changes in working conditions and use of equipment to increase efficiency of shop.
Reviews time and production records.
Responsible for ensuring overall work cell is ready for production.
Start all mold changes and verifies machine is running at standard cycle time and is producing product at the same level as indicated by the previous runs first and last shot.
Responsible for assigned machine process during the course of their shift. This includes the following but is not limited to:
The quality of the product meets current standards as defined by the first and last shot.
Must insure that the molding machine and all auxiliary equipment are operating safely and efficiently. All issues of non - conforming are documented via the maintenance work order system.
Machine start-ups and/or mold changes.
Troubleshoot machine, mold and material problems.
Accurate completion of process verification, tool reports, and work orders as required.
Ensures proper care of all equipment especially the managing proper disposal and recording of all purging.
Continuous improvement (ideas and suggestions).
Follow all OSHA and safety rules and regulations.
Maintains adherence to company policies, safety/ergonomic standards, and good housekeeping practices.
Comply with all Environmental Requirements and Policies
Report all Environmental incidents to immediate supervisor
Completes and performs other duties/tasks as may be assigned

Bachelor's degree (BA or BS) in engineering or technical field from four-year college or university required
2-3 years of experience in plastics processing or similar environments required.
Must be experienced in mold set-ups, trouble shooting, and exposure to maintenance problems.
Interpret a variety of instructions furnished in written, oral, diagram, or schedule forms.
Three to four years of related work experience;
Must be able to work and function in a team environment.
Requires knowledge of mechanical reasoning related to understanding equipment, machinery and their primary functions.
Must be able to visually inspect parts produced; specific vision abilities include close vision, distance vision, color vision, peripheral vision, depth perception and the ability to adjust to focus;
Must be able to frequently use hands to finger, handle, or feel objects, tools or controls;
Must be able to reach with hands and arms; stoop, kneel, or crouch;
Must be able to occasionally lift and/or move up to 60 pounds;
Must be available to work off shifts (afternoons and midnights).
Climbing, bending, stooping is done on frequent basis. Crawling or climbing into machinery is performed occasionally. A Process Technician is on foot for most of the shift. Ladders are permanent fixed to the machinery per OSHA guidelines and must be climbed occasionally.
Once or twice per shift a nozzle tip must be removed. A pry bar is used which requires physical exertion.
Infrequently a conveyor must be moved. This may happen twice per week. Lifting, pushing or pulling up to 50 pounds is required occasionally.
Manual Dexterity: Must use moderate speed and accuracy in operating machines and retrieving parts.
Physical Effort: Work requires moderate to heavy physical exertion with above average weight materials or equipment.

DOE and six sigma certification preferred.
