About The Position

In this exciting role as a Process Engineer II within Advanced Manufacturing Engineering at Medtronic's Energy & Component Center (MECC), you will have responsibility for supporting and improving the manufacturing of high-quality components used in implantable medical devices. You will be responsible for improving manufacturing quality, capacity, lead time and cost through active problem solving, developing solutions and implementing process changes in accordance with the quality system. The ideal candidate for this role will have experience with problem solving, developing and improving the capability of processes, and navigating the medical device manufacturing quality systems to include regulatory approvals. This role reports to a Senior Engineering Manager at the Medtronic Energy and Component Center (MECC) and is located in Brooklyn Center, MN. Please note this role does work on-site in the manufacturing area but is not direct day to day line support.

Requirements

  • Bachelor's degree required.
  • 2+ years of engineering experience in manufacturing, quality, process development, or design.
  • Or Master's degree with 0 years of experience.

Nice To Haves

  • Previous experience in the Medical Device Industry.
  • Experience working in a highly regulated manufacturing environment (e.g. medical device, pharmaceutical, avionics, automotive).
  • Direct experience operating manufacturing equipment.
  • Knowledge of process development and process validation.
  • DFSS or DRM Greenbelt Certification.
  • Experience using Solid Works.
  • Strong written, verbal, and presentation skills.
  • Experience with injection molding processes is helpful.
  • Familiarity with DRM, DMAIC, Lean and/or Six Sigma principles.
  • Solid understanding of key manufacturing performance areas: safety, quality, delivery, cost.
  • Effective planning and organization skills, including the ability to work against multiple objectives simultaneously and understand schedule, budget, and scope.

Responsibilities

  • Provides technical and sustaining engineering support in a manufacturing area.
  • Recommends and implements equipment and process modifications to meet quality standards and improve production efficiencies.
  • Integrates equipment and material capabilities to meet process module target specifications and technology target specifications.
  • Reviews product development requirements for compatibility with processing methods to determine costs and schedules.
  • Interacts with product design and development personnel to ensure that processes and designs are compatible.
  • May develop and conduct statistical analysis or recommend additions to document work.
  • Leads the innovation, development and/or optimization of new manufacturing concepts, processes and procedures for transfer to manufacturing operations.
  • Develops manufacturing processes that are applicable to statistical process control and may develop those techniques including the measurement systems.
  • Ensures processes and procedures are in compliance with regulations.
