The Engineer - Chemical will be responsible for providing operational and technical support for multiple batch processing units with a focus on safety, quality, reliability, and production throughput. The role is responsible for ensuring safe and efficient production of the highest quality. The role will work within a collaborative and diverse team to solve complex problems. The role requires engineering acumen to identify areas for improvement and to generate original thinking in design and development. The job holder is expected to approach tasks with creativity, and continual improvement. This position is part of the production team whose goal is to safely and efficiently supply Croda's customers with the product they deserve. Must comply with SHE and quality standards, relevant codes of practice, and regulatory compliance. Work with multiple cross-functional groups including, production, demand planning, purchasing, maintenance and engineering. Communication will include F2F, VC, email, text, etc.

  • Actively responsible for ensuring minimal downtime and high quality in production area of responsibility.
  • Oversee the manufacturing and production process to a set of standards.
  • Monitor and analyze plant, process, and finished product data including cycle time, rates and QC information.
  • Responsible to communicate daily operator instructions and future campaign guidelines.
  • Coordinate with maintenance teams to ensure proper upkeep of area and management of turnaround and plant shutdown activities.
  • Conduct OEE and AU evaluations for product line - review all down time and develop/implement solutions to improve OEE.

  • Provide plant and process troubleshooting skills on manufacturing assets, including off hours support.
  • Provide technical expertise in root cause failure analyses for safety, quality, and reliability incidents.
  • Develop and maintain PSM documentation including management of change, standard operating procedures, and batch recipes.
  • Lead/participate in hazard studies and process hazard reviews including carrying out risk assessments with assigned plant areas.
  • Work with R&D teams for new product development and lead new product scale-up evaluations and introduction to commercial production lines.
  • BS or MS in Chemical Engineering or other technical degree with a minimum of 3 years of experience in a chemical/manufacturing plant environment preferred
  • In-depth understanding of hazardous chemical process operations
  • Ability to use knowledge creatively to generate commercially viable solutions to complex problems
  • High level of expertise in the field of engineering
  • Excellent interpersonal and communication skills - teamwork focused with a hands-on approach to addressing problems
  • Detail oriented and well organized to manage multiple projects and priorities
