About The Position

The Process Engineer (Assembly) is accountable for improving overall assembly processes through analysis and strategic planning. This position will work with the Director of Operations or Automation Manager to identify inefficient assembly processes, undertaking operational analysis, work design and methods, and work to eliminate them to increase output and decrease costs. In some instances, the Process Engineer (Assembly) will work with the Director of Operations or Automation Manager reviewing opportunities for simplification of tasks for improved effectiveness. This is a skilled position that requires previous experience and in-depth knowledge of manufacturing and assembly.

Requirements

  • Previous experience in manufacturing and assembly.
  • In-depth knowledge of manufacturing and assembly processes.
  • Excellent communication skills, both written and oral.
  • Project management skills.
  • Ability to analyze and optimize production procedures.

Nice To Haves

  • Experience with government compliance monitoring (EPA, OSHA).
  • Familiarity with QMS and EMS compliance.

Responsibilities

  • Research new technology and suggest new machines to appropriate managers and decision-makers.
  • Provide training assistance on operation and preventative maintenance of installed equipment.
  • Write and update processes to ensure proper methods of manufacturing or assembly.
  • Conduct time studies and evaluate existing processes to ensure that standards are maintained.
  • Assist product design with new/existing manufacturing or assembly processes and methods.
  • Lead projects, including a cross-functional team, ensuring these projects stay on time, on spec and on budget.
  • Justify new tooling and new technology in the manufacturing or assembly areas.
  • Maintain all new and existing prints of tooling.
  • Keep up to date on new manufacturing or assembly processes and methods and work to improve efficiency.
  • Analyze current production procedures and standards to identify inefficiencies.
  • Spend time on the production floor analyzing both employee and machinery workflow.
  • Monitor government requirements (EPA, OSHA, etc.) to ensure compliance.
  • Interact with individuals throughout the company and external to the company.
  • Generate documentation related to the integration of new products into the production environment.
  • Perform analysis of part design characteristics, specifications and tolerances.
  • Optimize processes to meet objectives of lowering cost and/or improving productivity.
  • Provide proper documentation in assembly and maintenance at project completion.
  • Monitor new procedures and report successes and failures to the Director of Operations or Assembly Manager.
  • Promote process improvement to ensure compliance to industry standards and regulations.
  • Attend meetings and contribute to new product design review.
  • Support the continual improvement and compliance of QMS and EMS.
