This role leads complex chemical evaluations and testing strategies, interprets analytical results, and translates findings into practical recommendations for internal partners. The Process Development Scientist also contributes to cross‑functional initiatives that improve product performance, quality, and scalability from lab to field or manufacturing.

Requirements

  • 5+ years of progressive experience in chemistry, analytical chemistry, formulation, or related laboratory/R&D work
  • Demonstrated ability to lead complex technical work with independent judgment and minimal supervision
  • Experience designing experiments, selecting test methods, analyzing results, and translating findings into practical recommendations
  • Strong technical writing and communication skills and ability to present complex information clearly to technical and non‑technical audiences
  • Proficiency with standard productivity tools (e.g. Microsoft Office) and comfort working with technical documentation
  • Bachelor’s degree in Chemical Engineering, Chemistry, or a closely related field is required

Responsibilities

  • Assist with development/vetting of technical packages including preliminary literature reviews and summary documentation.
  • Propose, design, and execute internal or 3rd party data gathering efforts in a laboratory setting.
  • Assist with design, costing, and manage pilot production of new products.
  • Partner with engineering, participate in design and scaling of processes, and develop materials for and participate in process hazard analysis (PHA)
  • Lead complex laboratory investigations to develop, improve, or troubleshoot chemical products, formulations, or processes and recommend data‑driven solutions.
  • Design experimental plans, select appropriate analytical methods, and ensure testing is completed with strong scientific rigor and documentation.
  • Interpret analytical and performance data, prepare clear technical summaries, and communicate recommendations to R&D, manufacturing, regulatory, sales, and marketing partners.
  • Partner cross‑functionally to support product development priorities and ensure technical work aligns to business needs and timelines.
  • Serve as a technical resource for complex issues, providing guidance, coaching, and consultation to peers and stakeholders.
  • Maintain strong laboratory practices, including safe chemical handling, accurate recordkeeping, and adherence to applicable quality standards.
  • Contribute to continuous improvement by refining test methods, improving repeatability, and elevating documentation and knowledge sharing
