About The Position

Panther Life Sciences is pioneering a new class of skin health, beauty, and therapeutic products through our proprietary dissolvable microneedle array patch (MAP) platform. We believe that the skin, as the body’s most accessible and responsive organ, offers a transformative path to better health for all. We are seeking a Process Development Engineering Intern to support the design and development of key manufacturing processes for microneedle array patches. This role is highly hands-on and will focus on developing equipment and processes that enable scalable, high-quality manufacturing. Creativity, initiative and problem solving will be central to this role. This position is ideal for an engineer who thrives at the intersection of mechanical design, automation and materials sciences. You will work closely with engineers and scientists at our Pittsburgh facility to prototype, test and refine manufacturing solutions.

Requirements

  • M.S. or Ph.D. students currently pursuing degrees in Mechanical, Biomedical, Chemical Engineering, or a closely related discipline are eligible.
  • Strong hands-on engineering and prototyping skills
  • Experience with mechanical design, laboratory equipment or automation
  • Clear communication skills and ability to work cross-functionally
  • Comfortable working in a fast paced, resource-constrained environment

Nice To Haves

  • Familiarity with intricate process development and a grasp of vacuum force utilization.

Responsibilities

  • Support the development and scale-up of manufacturing processes for microneedle array patches (MAP).
  • Design and test vacuum-based systems for material distribution and drying, including active pharmaceutical ingredients (API)
  • Design, build and source equipment for automated liquid dispensing systems for low-volume, high-precision applications
  • Support characterization activities of microneedle patch products and devices
  • Document designs, experiments and results to support process development

Benefits

  • Exposure to breakthrough health technology and insight into how next-generation drug delivery systems move from concept to product.
  • Real impact from day one. Work on projects that directly contribute to Panther’s microneedle array platform and product development.
  • Hands-on experience participating in the design, development, and testing of real technologies alongside senior engineers and scientists.
  • Meaningful ownership of discrete projects with clear outcomes and the opportunity to present your work to the team.
  • Startup-level responsibility within a small, fast-moving team where your ideas and contributions genuinely matter.
  • Work alongside a small group of thoughtful, curious people who care a lot about the mission. We collaborate closely, help each other out and work together.
