About The Position

INTERNSHIP OPPORTUNITY Job Title: Process Controls Engineer Reports To: Process Automation Manager Location: Moab, Utah Learning Objectives & Responsibilities: Industrial Automation & Controls Learn and assist with PI System administration (OSIsoft), an industrial data historian used for real-time data collection and analysis. Gain experience in PLC programming, including: Ladder Logic Function Block Diagrams Structured Text Support integration and troubleshooting of industrial networks (e.g., Ethernet/IP, Modbus, Profibus). Control Loop Optimization Learn the fundamentals of PID loop tuning to improve system stability and performance. Assist in analyzing control loop behavior and adjusting tuning parameters under supervision. Electrical Design & Power Systems Participate in power study coordination using SKM Power Tools software. Assist in analyzing short circuit, arc flash, and protective device coordination studies. Design & Documentation Help update one-line diagrams for electrical systems. Support the development of engineering drawings using Revit and Building Information Modeling (BIM) tools. Document control logic, network architecture, and system configurations. Team Collaboration Work alongside experienced engineers and technicians on automation and electrical projects. Attend team meetings and contribute to project planning and troubleshooting efforts. Preferred Interests: PLCs and industrial control systems Revit and BIM tools Data analytics or historian systems PID control theory and tuning Data Science, including data visualization, statistical analysis, or machine learning in industrial contexts Process Design, including process mapping, optimization, and control integration

Requirements

  • Valid Driver's License
  • High school diploma or GED
  • Actively pursuing a degree in Electrical, Mechanical, or Chemical Engineering.
  • Excellent written and verbal communications required
  • Proficient with Microsoft Office Suite PC software
