Schneider Electric has an opportunity for a summer Process Control Intern in our Richfield, Ohio location. This internship will have the opportunity to gain exposure to project engineering and field service with real-life initiatives, projects and resume boosting experience within a Fortune 500 company. The selected intern will collaborate with a team of engineers delivering projects and providing support for our process automation customers on Foxboro and Modicon systems. Under the mentorship and direction of senior engineers, the co-op will be part of a high-performance team solving problems for our customers and delivering solutions. Learn everyday working on process control and PLC control systems. Troubleshooting, upgrading, set-up/configuring equipment and software, and building applications that will be delivered to our customers. Learn to interpret design inputs like Piping and Instrumentation Diagrams, IO lists, and control narratives. Collaborating with a senior engineer, build and configure Human Machine Interface screens for operator control/effectiveness based on the design inputs. Extensive involvement in testing systems for customers and resolving discrepancies.

Requirements

  • Strong analytical and problem-solving abilities.
  • Effective communication skills, both written and verbal.
  • Ability to work independently and collaboratively in a team environment.
  • Willingness to learn and adapt in a fast-paced technical setting.
  • Currently enrolled in a degree program studying Chemical Engineering, Electrical Engineering, Mechanical Engineering, Process Control Engineering, or a related field, with a minimum of two years of completed coursework.
  • Proficient in Windows 10/11 and Windows Server 2022 environments.
  • Familiarity with Microsoft Office Suite, including: Excel (data entry, formulas, basic charting) Word (documentation and reporting) Outlook (email and calendar management)
  • Basic understanding of networking concepts and computer hardware/software troubleshooting.
  • Ability to work on-site up to 40 hours per week at our Cleveland, Ohio area location for the duration of the summer internship
  • Applicants must be authorized to work in the United States on a full-time, ongoing basis. The company does not provide immigration sponsorship now or in the future.

Nice To Haves

  • Exposure to process control systems and instrumentation.
  • Fundamental knowledge of Foxboro Block Language, ladder logic, or similar control programming languages.
  • Ability to read and interpret control logic diagrams, function blocks, and system documentation.
