About The Position

The Manager of Process Control Engineering provides leadership to the team supporting a large Pulp and Paper Mill at our Macon, GA Mill.  JOB FUNCTION: Job functions include, but are not limited to the following.

Requirements

  • Eight (8) years’ experience in Process Control/OT.
  • Experience with Distributed Control Systems (DCS), Programmable Logic Control Systems (PLC), and associated instrumentation.
  • Experience in supporting an operations group on a day-to-day basis.
  • BS in Electrical, Mechanical, Chemical, or Computer Engineering.
  • DCS experience with Honeywell TDC or Experion or other Open System (i.e., Delta V)
  • Installation and configuration of Allen Bradley PLC; DCS/QCS Service Management
  • Communications networking and training – network design and configuration. Ethernet TCP/IP – routers, hubs, switches etc.; Client/Server and database application implementation.

Responsibilities

  • Manage a team responsible for the installation/modification of process control system software and application software.
  • Oversee the process control/operational technology (OT) system for the whole facility, including break/fix, systems, and large OT projects
  • Engage a team to partner with operating departments to meet OT needs and implement control strategies for new process equipment.
  • Modify/enhance controls/OT on existing equipment; work with maintenance/operations personnel to identify and resolve problems with equipment to keep the process within availability and quality KPI limits.
  • Identify requirements for capital investments, cost reduction, and process control equipment and steward continual improvement.
  • Assist in preparation of budgets and standards for cost measurement.
  • Provide leadership with the implementation of problem-solving strategies and the execution of key performance objectives.
  • Create, implement, and monitor local KPI’s for the department.
  • Liaison with other department managers to optimize mill production and alignment of process control systems with all improvement initiatives.
  • Foster employee engagement initiatives.
  • Encourage a behavior-based safety process.
